What does everyone think the best sandwich is?

I think my favorite at the moment is banana + peanut butter, fried.

Avocado, Tzatziki, pepper, salt, tiny bit of chilli, buttered bread, Some sort of sundried tomato role, or if you are prole - some toast.

Fried cheese sandwiches are lush also. Particularly if you add a few leaves of fresh basil, to make yourself feel dirty & middle class. And fry it in extra virgin olive oil.

You dirty fucker.

Fried how btw?

I love sandwiches, today I'm making a grilled chicken, avocado and rocket and parmesan one (shit but I've got not bread, and only... 62p cash, and the nearest free cashpoint's miles away. Hmm maybe I'll make a salad...)

Er, best one well there is no one best. Good ones... well toasted panini (focaccia's nicer but panini's usually bigger!) with things like avocado, mozzarella, tomato, prosciutto and maybe a little pesto, or black olives. Mmmm...

That is well good. It's cheese that tastes like meat!

You get this stuff called 'oil' and heat it in this thing called a 'pan' on a device designed to heat up food called an 'oven', then you put the 'sandwich' in the pan.

You nob, I meant the whole sandwich fried, the bread, or the banana.

grin

Yeah, I'd just like to clarify that my recipe for fried cheese sandwiches entails making a cheese sandwich, then frying it.

Oh, and by the way, Jack, if you'd ever made a meal for yourself, rather than relying on your mum, you would know that heating a pan of oil in the oven would be fucking stupid. The device you're thinking of is called a "hob."

What, are your hobs on the fridge?

Is there a different name for them in the South?

You know, the hot circle things on top of the oven you heat pans with.

Grill some halloumi cheese till it's just starting to melt, put it in a hot pitta bread with tomato and lettuce and black pepper.

Sounds simple, but OH HONEY it's the best food in the world.

Although John's chicken sandwich is making me want to quit being veggie...

yeah you fry on hobs, not in an oven. but all this semantics is wasting valuable sandwich-discussing time: i had vege sausage/houmous/grilled pepper/courgette in a ciabatta roll last nite grin

Pretty much anything involving hummus and roast veg is good, maybe with falafel too. One time I had one with avocado, rocket, sun dried tomatoes and parmesan and I nearly creamed my pants it was so good.

Ooo also, bananas and peanut butter. Although I've never tried it fried 'cause I happen to like my arteries.

Everything is so much better when you fry it.
