Well, did we all enjoy the Anarchist Bookfair then?

28 October, 2007 - 16:15

i certainly did. by the sounds of another thread on here, some didn't eek

28 October, 2007 - 16:27

I bought a 9" thick stack of leaflets (old Wildcat, Subversion, BM Combustion and others) for a tenner.

28 October, 2007 - 16:42

When I were a lad Subversion was free.

28 October, 2007 - 16:47

Actually it was an internal discussion document on Japan, but with a cover and stuff. 50p couldn't turn it down. Might have got something else subversion related but there was sooo much I can't remember exactly what I bought.

Were you there Ned? Sorry I missed you if so.

28 October, 2007 - 16:56

I only bought one book this time, which was quite restrained of me- The Third Revolution by Bookchin. Cacth has been going on about it for years, so I thought I'd better get it. I also got about 15 pamphlets, mostly from KSL. They all look great.

28 October, 2007 - 17:16

Refused posting:
I bought two books, a couple of pamphlets, Classwar (probably the best war) t-shirt and many magazines.

the button didn't bother with the bookfair this year, grumpy bastard.

28 October, 2007 - 17:24

No, I'm up in Scotland at the moment so missed all the excitement of the bookfair.

28 October, 2007 - 18:44

I really enjoyed it - didn't buy anything but picked up some free stuff. It was great to chat to lots of old friends and meet some interesting new people, though as always there's never enough time to talk properly to everyone. And I was shocked to be reminded how pleasant revol is in real life! I only made it to one of the meetings I wanted to go to (LCAP/Direct Action Casework), but that one was good. Also gave copies of Voices of Resistance from Occupied London to people who I'm sure weren't very interested but nevertheless flicked through it politely wink

red n black star Chatted to the ICC outside of the venue. Managed to attend lecture on Workers Councils by Alan Woodward - interesting, but a little lightweight, livened up by heavier weight contributions by Terry Liddle (no pun intended Terry) and the ICC. Met old comrades, but working on stalls most of the day. Enjoyed the day - could have done with accessible catering facilities.

28 October, 2007 - 21:57

A fun day as usual, met a whole bunch of old mates. Can't belive welshboy's beard he is totally ripping off the look of an old Newport 'character'!! Great to meet up with the Abolishing Borders From Below people again, who I had no idea would be there. The workshop i did on setting up a local anarchist newsletter actually had people turn up and they seemed genuinly interested!! Drank my own weight in beer in the evening and ate two breakfasts this morning. result!

28 October, 2007 - 22:06

It was good but as always not enough time for most things. Bought "Deschooling..." and "Making stuff..." along with pamphlets, tshirts and cds. Also managed to meet a few new people and say hello to people I havent seen in awhile. Got to go to two good talks before managing a quick drink.

28 October, 2007 - 22:13

Did you go down on the train?

29 October, 2007 - 09:07

i walked cool

29 October, 2007 - 12:30

Aye it was decent enough. Nice to see everyone again - actually didn't really meet many people I hadn't before, probably just Wraeth.

Highlights - hammering Revol, Jack, our other Organise mate, and anyone else who dared to play me at bowling on the Wii, because I had mad bowling skills and brought some pizazz to the game.
Hanging out with/chatting to anyone/everyone, however briefly: Cantdo, Jack, Zobag, JosephK, Pingtiao, JefC, Button, Dara, Grace, and a few others
Supermalt Plus
The place we got curry on Saturday
Meeting a straightedge dude from Sheffield I hadn't seen in years!

Lowlights - getting beat by some russian tramp character on Wii Boxing
Jack getting drunk on Thursday
Being asked by ** if I was Revol
Not chatting very loing to some (Button, MartinH, LW, Catch)
No Gav, John. or Rkn
Jack putting "fake" semen on Revol's face to wake him up
Revol being unable to chop potatoes correctly

29 October, 2007 - 12:41

Yeah I think me an conor at best mentioned an "alright mate" which was a shame, I only saw the button from 20 feet away in the pub as well.

29 October, 2007 - 13:12

Yeah a few people just got the "alright mate" treatment from me unfortunately.

29 October, 2007 - 14:28

high point: my non attendance.

low point: being up all night holding a raw steak to Jack's eye

29 October, 2007 - 15:51

I got home about an hour ago. So much stuff to sort through.

P.S.

Why does no-one ever remember/mention talking to me? Am I that boring? angry

29 October, 2007 - 16:02

Shit sorry dude, yes, speaking to Refused again for five whole minutes instead of the usual two!
Same time next year mate wink

29 October, 2007 - 16:05

We would have chatted more but youse lot ditched me and Grace. angry

Mebbe cos you do things like arranging to meet people in ten minutes time and then not coming back???

roll eyes

I liked meeting you. But you haven't mentioned me either. sad

29 October, 2007 - 16:54

Refused

Just read your post on other thread. Cheers heh!

29 October, 2007 - 16:58

Everything I bought ended up being left in the Palm Tree by mistake. £20's worth of books bought on a whim gone forever sad

29 October, 2007 - 17:01

hahaa, i may go retrieve it all "for you". but seriously, if you think you'll be down in london any time soon, let me know what the books were and i can pop down the pub and see if they got handed in

30 October, 2007 - 07:43

high point: being in a different country
low point: missing coffeemachine's mad fighting skillz
