Its like the sexiest thing ever! I suppose there are many different shades of the "british accent" but its hard for me to tell the differences. Specially out here in the 'merican west were we can hardly speak english anyway, let alone read or write. 
hmm. accents in the British Isles, as well as in the USA, tend to vary by class, not just region, in my observation. i recall a long conversation i had in a bar here with a working class guy from Wales, an ex-member of the Revolutionary Workers Party. Even tho we were both nominally speaking "English" i think i didn't understand half of what he said the whole evening. i found his accent impenetrable.
i was thinking about how many times british accents are used on american television to sell products and i was wondering what accents are used in britain to represent authority and taste for the purpose of pushing commodities. it certainly aint texan.
