i'm fucking shatttered now so i can't have slept well, and i had a crazy crazy dream too.

First i was on the sandy banks of something like the nile and i was a toddler in some sort of altercation with another toddler. Then i don't remember. next thing i know i'm on a plane.

At some point, it becomes clear - but not in a scary way, just a recognition of fact, that the plane has been hijacked by Al Quaeda and they will crash it into the twin towers. I don't think the dream was set post 11th of september, but a few of us on the plane know what will happen anyway.

I never get scared in dreams - which is funny cos i'm terrified of the dark, monsters and ghosts and aliens - and this dream was no different. i sat in my chair and decided i wouldn't feel a thing. It would pass in the blink of an eye - and anyway, i'd had a good life.

But then i remembered how angry i had been about people criticising the passengers who didn't manage to bring their plane down, saying they should have swarmed on the hijackers, even though some would have had their throats cut. I disagree, i can see why people didn't do it. But anyway, i have decided to get myself cut up to prove a point and me and two other passengers - who also know what is going to happen - start banging on the pilots door shouting at the hijackers. It seems pointless - why would they open the door now?

We start giving it some heavy kicks. I suppose this fucks off the hijackers cos after a while the door swings open. One of the passengers runs forward but somehow is grabbed by a hijacker and has the stanley knife held at his throat. Me and the pasenger don't move, we've bricked it. i was worried this would happened and i'm disappointed in myself. The hijacker looks at me and makes a cutting motion across his own throat with the knife as a threat. Me and the the other guy run at him, he loses the knife somehow and starts strangling me. I get my thumbs and press them into his eyes, holding the back of his head for pressure. When he loses his grip on me, i get the stanley knife and stab him in the eyes, in a x shape - one cut one way into his eyeball and then the other way.

The plane is about to crash - someone is flying it again though. I run from the cabin and grab a seat near the front.

I put my belt on, but suppose it won't make much difference. As the trees and hills become clear, i realise that this won't be quick or painless - i'm going to get mangled and burned for hours before dying. i might even survive. For the first trime, i'm afraid. I decide to go to the back of the plane where i think my chances are better - but i don't want to be standing in the aisle when we crash, so i keep jumping up to move, looking out the window, and sitting down again. Eventually it is too late. We come in level on a field and make our final descent.

We land perfectly. Its bumpy, but the plane is undamaged. We run out into the field. its really sunny and beautiful. I'm euphoric and shouting at the other passengers that i saved them, that we brought the plane down.

Thats all i can remember.

Its probably the best dream i've ever had, but its sooo weird. Has anyone had a similar dream? I used to dream i could fly bas a child, what does that one mean? have any readers had a better dream that that?

shit - you're right! I almost forgot, after dinner we had biscuits and cheese. The swiss one, some cheddar(sp?) and a very strong soft blue cheese.

That must have been it.

Tacks that was an amazing dream. I raise my hat to your subconscious. The best bit was clearly the toddler altercation at the beginning tho.

Freud said that flying represented sex. Maybe you've had issues with intimacy, seeing sexual partners as adversaries (the terrorist)? Dreams are the 'royal road' for discovering what our unconscious desires are. You nwant to work through your issues and be able to experience sex and relationships in a healthy way which causes you no anxiety (the safe landing). Or maybe Freud was chatting shit wink

Jung said that dreams provide us with solutions to problems. The advice you can take from this dream seems to be to face your fears, literally look your enemy in the face and take them on - and even though it will be scary, it'll all work out for the best in the end.

I seem to remember reading something that indicated that dreams are a load of random sounds and images that your brain forms into a narative after you wake up, that's why it's easier to "remember" your dreams if you write them down as soon as you wake up, you have more images for a more complete story.

there are two unimpeachable truths one can resolve from your dream:

1: going by the sex connection suggested by freud and jess, you obviously desire sex with terrorists - this is shown by all the hot sexy eye-penetration.

2: you are secretly an American patriot. wink

now that i think of it, no wonder you ended up an Anarchist - you're so internally conflicted! cool

wouldn't that mean i see sex as inherently violent, a one sided act i do TOO someone not with? I don't like the sound of that.

Or maybe a dream about terrorism is about terrorism. There's enough hype about 9/11 and fear of terror attacks (especially in London) for it to be an ongoing subject in tacks' subconscious. Freud himself said 'sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.' Typical orally obsessed phallaphobe. tongue

Not just flying. I met someone once who characterised freudian thought as: "Everything is about sex and death and sex is all about death."

well... wait a week or so. if you have no dreams of terrorists poking *your* eyes out, then perhaps you're in trouble Mr. T

Oh you've got to be fucking kidding!

What next? Really, what other mundane ramblings from Tacks' cliched unconscious are we to expect in future? "I did ten pills one night and thought my eyes were herons"?
