Comrades Reunited

Submitted by Serge Forward on 13 September, 2006 - 11:22.

Am I the only sad bugger who's actually done the Comrades Reunited bit in my account information??? It seems no one on here was in any of the groups of yesteryear that I belonged to! Which is weird as I'm sure there was more than just me at the time (and I know for a fact that a couple of people on Libcom did cross my path all those years ago). Come on you lot, I want retro-anarcho discos, Woodbines, Park Drive, No 6, and shagging behind the bike shed asap!!!

I did mine but I was not in any of the groups you were in. Seeing the only political group I was ever in the was the DAM that's not surprising.

13 September, 2006 - 11:37

Well, funnily enough I did know a couple of members of Manchester DAM in the early 80s.

Oh yeah, I seem to remember DAM having some involvement with NWAF as well.

I've done mine. I'm going to set up an index page for comrades reunited so it will be more prominent and should get more people to know about it and do it.

I've been editing people's profiles if people have entered things incorrectly (which will stop it working). Other admins should do this as well.

edit - we've got a few of us here. I blame the oldie technophobes TBH...

13 September, 2006 - 12:27

I'm just a young-un, so I'm still involved in the first political groups I've ever joined (AF & Solfed)

13 September, 2006 - 12:54

I've never joined any political groups really. Also, I'm not really sure what to pick for the employment bit - just 'services'?

13 September, 2006 - 12:58

I just updated mine so you all can make fun of my poor choices early on in my political development.

You were a Maoist? cool Better than being a teenage trot.

13 September, 2006 - 13:21

I HATE TROTS. We had a saying, " a chicken in every pot and an ice pick in every trot"

13 September, 2006 - 13:21

Being a Maoist in the US isnt anything special.

If anyones been a Maoist in the UK - now thats cool cool

13 September, 2006 - 14:08

hundreds of thousands of working class people coming together in common interest to improve their conditions is pretty political, certainly more political that a sterile purist sect of a few dozen men that organises empty and exclusive 'networks'

13 September, 2006 - 15:18

All the maoists I know were maoists back in the 70's and are now some strange brand of social democracy.

13 September, 2006 - 15:20

new democracy? like what the nepalese maoists aka north east london solfed are into? smile)

It wasn't a criticism of unions, just a semantic difference of no real importance. Calm...

yeah. That section wasn't meant for unions really, cos they have hundreds of thousands of members so it's unlikely you'll meet an old friend. And they're not based on your personal politics; they're technically economic organisations. but hey i left yours in there.

But the reformist unions are economic groupings. Don't get me wrong you won't find anyone on here more pro-union and anti-political sect than me and I live for the day when I can be a member of an anarcho-syndicalist union. If that day arrives I will be one of the most vocal critics of those anarchists remaining in purely political groups.
