god most american tv is so shit.

watch flight of the conchords again, loser.

i don't want comedy. Preferably something with a big arc, not just one offs.

I like battlestar, the wire, the shield, 24, heroes and stuff like that so preferably stuff in that vein.

Doesn't actually have to be this year, if there's something especially good past couple years we might have missed, that'd be ace too.

20 December, 2007 - 12:35

you watch desperate housewives? that's old but good.

i kinda wanted to watch 6 ft under... is that serial killer show that guy's in now any good?

20 December, 2007 - 12:44

i tried desparate, but didn't like it, but might give it another go, i got my mum seasons 1 and 2 last christmas so wouldn't even have to download them...

Dexter is the serial killer one. Never seen it so might give that a shot, altho it sounds more episodic rather than arc based.

VERONICA MARS!!!!!
Have you watched it? Its Fabulous! its like buffy and a gilmore girls mixed together in a blender with a trashy detective noir novel!
THey only made three seasons,

20 December, 2007 - 15:47

yeh veronica mars is wicked but its not new anymore, its over sad

crappy tv people cancel all my favorite shows grrr

20 December, 2007 - 18:08

Ugh a bunch of my comrades like the Gilmore girls, I fuckin' hate that show. The actress that plays the daughter can't act worth shit.

20 December, 2007 - 18:22

Dexter is arc based, a whole season for one plot. IMO it's very good, well worth the download in any case.

I'd also recommend Chuck, Aliens in America and Pushing Daisies, all new shows of 2007.

Well Jack, i know you said you don't like comedy, but Curb Your Enthusiasm is fucking genius. It actually reminds me of British comedy alot of the time: the characters will make you painfully cringe, but you just can't turn away. It's also mostly unscripted, a lot of improv, so you get a lot of truly awkward moments, some think I know you can relate to in your own life.

20 December, 2007 - 18:26

Jack, did you get into the Sopranos or Six Feet Under?

20 December, 2007 - 18:32

Yeah, Curb Your Enthusiasm is beyond genius. dope as shit. Larry David (the character version) might just be the best person of all time.

20 December, 2007 - 18:37

I hated Sopranos, and 6 feet under never grabbed me. wink

And yea I love Curb.

Highly reccomend Dexter (the serial killer one). With the writers strike and Heroes all done, I needed something else to watch, so got the first 2 eps of Dexter yesterday, and it was well worth it. Getting the rest of season 1 now, then season 2 tomorrow smile

Yes, but did the writers see any of the residuals from your purchase? Mmmm?? Actually, I'm assuming you just downloaded them, good for you.

21 December, 2007 - 04:45

Dexter is the best show on TV in years.

I also like Saving Grace.

21 December, 2007 - 07:16

ncwob - trust your assumptions tongue

21 December, 2007 - 14:09

I really like Bones and House

21 December, 2007 - 17:31

I'll endorse Dexter as well, great fun. Anyone know if there's plans for a third season?

21 December, 2007 - 17:37

Yup, the network has confirmed it will be a third season.

It was too complexly ironic and intelligent for americans.

22 December, 2007 - 05:22

I just want to re-emphasise my Dexter reccomendation - started watching episode 3 of season 1 last night, ended up not sleeping and watching the whole rest of season 1 (12 eps total) overnight, with only a few ciggie/coffee breaks. Fucking excellent, although not so surprising - I picked most things long before they happened.

Eagerly awaiting season 2 now....

edit: Anyone seen Sleeper Cell: American Terror? it was being advertised during Dexter, sounds like it could have potential...
