Perhaps suggest a written contract, where you co-operate with them in return for various veto powers over the resulting production.
Does anyone know anything about Landmark Films?
I don't know anything about them particularly, but I'd guess that they've approached you in relation to the 'major new 8 x 30 series for prime time BBC1' they announce on their news page (they wouldn't be doing anything unless they had a commission first). Given that it's 30 mins, prime time and for BBC1 there's no way it's going to be anything but a freakshow.
Tell 'em to get to fuck.
"one of the few companies that try to show films to contributors"
Which means they might give you a heads up before they stitch you up.
I wouldn't do it without getting written guarantess as advised above. They won't give them.

This one looks a bit more worthy, not sure if that's a good thing. Won some awards though.
I'd imagine they just want to laugh at a few punks. Mind you there are probably worse groups they could contact. I'd be interested to know if they've contacted any other groups. It could be that they want to show hw dangerous anarchists are to the system
this looks a bit erm, interesting. i wouldn't be keen, myself.
then again, if sensible people like norwich anarchists turn it down, slightly loopy 'anarchists' like the ALF or primmo types might do it instead and make a mockery of anarchism altogether, even before they start actually editing!
Just to clarify something, the impression I got from the person who contacted me was that the documentary has not yet gone into production and is still very much in the research stage. I don't think they want to use Norwich Anarchists in their film (or not just yet, anyhow), but they do want to meet us for research purposes.
What I think will happen is that they'll probably see us and realise we're not what they were looking for and then they'll go and find some nutcase anarchists.
well, if they're just interested in research at the moment, and they want to come to one of your meetings just to see what goes on, rather than filming it... i couldnt imagine there'd be much harm in *that*, at least. but, yeah, looking at the silly stuff they've made which is listed on their site... it looks like they're pretty ridiculous. judging by the titles of their other movies, it'll probably be called something stupid like "the wildest politicians in britain"
... no, wait...

Does anyone know anything about this company? They recently contacted Norwich Anarchists saying that they are developing a documentary on the anarchist movement in the UK and want to come to one of our meetings. We haven't given a definate answer yet, as we're still deciding. Has anyone else been approached?
From looking around their website, I can't help but feeling that they might just be trying to host a 21st century freakshow. The titles of their documentaries included 'Britain's tallest men' and 'fat pets'. So I'd like to know if anyone has seen any of their productions (there's a list on their website)? If so, what were they like, were they good quality, even handed documentaries, or was the general idea behind them to point and laugh at the freaks, so to speak?
Also, I'm curious to everyone's opinion on whether or not getting involved with things like this is a good idea. I've been talking to a couple people about it and one of them thought that it may be a good way to spread our ideas, whereas another (who I mainly agree with) thought the whole thing would probably just make us look like idiots.
Even if the documentary is a balanced, high quality production, is the current state of anarchism in Britain really something that we want to show off?
Thanks for any information anyone can give me.
