I got mine by pointing out that all the boys were quiet as fuck in the lesson i took, which is unheard of for most schools - they noted that their department was mostly female, so i basically told them they were stiffling boys engagement with science by feminizing the subject. I also got it by teaching an incredible lesson though.

Sorry Joseph, but you are talking shit here. This might be the first time I disagreed with you here, but seriously...
Positive discrimination is illegal in this country.
All they said was that "applications" from underrepresented groups would be particularly welcomed. Fears of race or sex discrimination can put certain groups of people off applying for jobs. Putting that you welcome applications from these groups helps to show that the organisation is trying to eliminate any kind of structural discrimination.
It doesn't even have to be about white blokes for example. I'm sure in the fire service there is a much better ethnic mix then there is a gender one. And in some sort of professions, such as teaching or parts of the public and voluntary sector, "underrepresented groups" includes men. Primary teaching for example is desperate for more males. However, in recruitment they should always go for the best candidates, regardless of gender.
I'm not saying this is going to fix any major problem in society, but it is not a bad thing. At all. And I have never heard anyone complain about it unless they were a total racist.
Seriously, I would bin this.
