Help!! Locked out of myspace and email accounts soon to be locked out of libcom!!!

Submitted by Lone Wolf on 25 June, 2007 - 14:55.

Hey guys

This is a c and p from my leap thread so it reaches as wide an audience as possible:

I am pretty desperate!!! wall wall wall

Hey guys

Thanks for all your continued support! smile

Sadly, as of yesterday, I can no longer log into my myspace account so there will be no changes of tune and fun guessing games thereof , no sending and receiving of messages and adding of friends etc, til i can resolve this... cry

I could have pmed some of you in libcom last night but i was just too down tbh...i will catch up with those of you i owe pms to tho like Olly and Welshboy...luckily most of the peeps i was due to message on myspace post here not surprisingly... tongue

Could someone who is registered as a friend please post a comment on my page saying hi or something just to see if that works. If you are told you can't leave a message due to tech probs that is at least some info.

I am not 100% surprised this has happened tbh as a couple of months ago my long standing email posting service with Orange starting locking me out. It failed to allow my username/password even tho it was the same as ever... confused i was pressing "login" as usual and was being disallowed.

I hired a tech person who didn't know why and couldn't solve the problem.

At the advice of some fellow posters i started a new account with Googlemail constructing a new email addy - this worked for about two weeks then shutdown also. Usual prob - didn't recognise the login info it had always recognised before.

A third and final attempt with Yahoo only lasted for a few minutes!!

So therefore i was not that surprised when the same thing happened with myspace. This has used the second of the three email addys and has enabled me to log in fine until yesterday. It wouldn't let me login and now just says due to too many failed attempts at login i must type in that weird looking verification code. So i do and then another code comes up and another and another and another...

I set up a brand new account to try and test what the problem was but could not enable it as it needed a verification code from inside my email account which is, of course, locked. Still the fact i could get that far tells me it is not a myspace general access prob but HAS to be because of being locked out of the email accounts i think - got to be a link!!!!

I will try and get hold of my tech friend but think he may be away on a course atm.

I have no more money to pay anyone and don't trust anyone locally anyway tbh. Most proclaimed computer experts are not at all!!

Would anyone who is up for the challenge fancy pming me or posting saying you are up for it and i will pm my email addy and password for myspace and for the first two email accounts as i am convinced it is the same problem beneath all this. Someone can see if they can get in as me from their computer! This is more valuable info as that might imply that it is my pc/some communicaton problems between my pc and these sites at fault.

Atm i can access other sites and post on here and on another site but would appreciate someone's help asap as i suspect it is only a matter of time before i am locked out of libcom as well.

you won't be locked out of your libcom account, unless you forget your username or password.

I know it shouldn't happen but i haven't forgotten my username and password on the other accounts also and yet i have still been locked out!!

The problem appears to be with email addresses and so if i suddenly lost myspace for this reason i can't assume i will be safe here either...

Plus I DO need to start having an email facility again and wanna get myspace back after the huge fucking effort it took to set up in the first place!

Anyone wanna have a go at accessing my accounts with my details?

Go one i dare you! You can see all my secrets..tongue they are quite dull actually... sad

I am looking for someone like revol perhaps? You up for this? Or ooh Felix?

well you will be, because you can't just get "locked out" unless your username or password changes.

Similarly googlemail, or myspace. Either way I'd just email the tech support of the various services you're having problems with.

Hi

Lem should be able to help. This sort of thing happens to him all the time. Assuming you're not Lem already.

But i have been locked out and haven't changed the password or username. (Not yet from lc but from the others). wall

I can't email googlemail or myspace because i am locked out of all my email accounts as i said before. wall I can't send or receive emails at all. Besides my experience from emailing tech support from tech providers when i DID have that facility is that er.. they didn't reply . I tried to get customer support phone no from these people last night but there are none that i could ascertain. I would have tried these things had they been available John!

Thanks for trying but what i need is someone who can try and hack in and see what the prob is from their computer or round here at the Lair.

LW is this going to be like last time when it turned out that you were just failing to notice a button?

Take a deep breath before you start again.

Read everything that comes up and don't click past messages if you don't understand them.

Firstly. With your email addresses are you absolutely sure that you are typing the password and the email address itself perfectly? that is the most likely reason for this problem.
Myspace uses a different password system. Once the myspace account is activated (and yours is) you basically never need to know use the email again to get in.

The most likely problem is that you are misspelling the email address, which would explain why both of them have stopped working at the same time.

With Myspace are you typing your password when the verification code comes up? Because you are supposed to type in the code that is displayed on the screen.

Best bet is to get someone who has your email address to send you it so you can make sure that you are spelling it correctly, and be careful entering your password.

The chances of both services locking you out at the same time are very low and the way you have described it suggests that this is human error.

Running on past experience you got flustered and kept typing in the wrong thing.

Next libcom drinks you owe me.

25 June, 2007 - 17:16

Also, are you using the same browser as usual? For some reason I can never get into libcom or myspace using Firefox, but have no trouble with IE.

25 June, 2007 - 17:17

Most likely jef is right, but if you like, I can try to log in to your accounts from my computer.
And I promise not to read your emails...

25 June, 2007 - 17:17

LW: if it works from another computer it should be easy to fix - my guess is your browser has 'helpfully' saved a mistyped password

if it doesn't work from another PC - i guess you're either having a senile moment or a virus has hijacked your accounts. both of which are beyond my competence.

Could it be something about the cookies that facilitate access to sites getting deleted?

Yep, I definitely think that's the problem I have with Firefox.

Yep, I definitely think that's the problem I have with Firefox.

In that case, all you have to do is enable cookies in the Tools->Options->Privacy menu.

Yeah I was thinking that - I once thought something had happened to my myspace account because I changed my password but Firefox had saved my old password and kept putting that in automatically. Could be something similar.

25 June, 2007 - 18:44

Jef

I didn't fail to notice the button!!

It can't be human error in the typing because with my Orange broadband and Googlemail and mySpace all i had to do was click the log in button. The username and password as you say were already set up. So it wasn't anything i did. They used to work ok - they stopped working.

Systems shutting down one at a time suggests a virus to me. - think JK could be right.

Wraeth you may have a point - didn't have any probs accessing stuff til i switched from IE to Firefox.
I will try that cookies thing if i can - nowt to lose.

Here is the complicating factor.

Tried the Orange account and Google account and Myspace at the net cafe . IE was used, instead of FF which i have at home..

I WAS able to access the Orange account (tho it mysteriously had deleted all the messages in my inbox apart from the five i had received since access was denied. confused They were not in the deleted/trash files. And all the sent messages had been preserved... confused )

I WAS able to access MySpace.

I was NOT able to access the Googlemail account despite typing the correct username and password in carefully several times and typing in endless verification codes when it asked me to!

So it can't JUST be about this computer/Firefox.

But it seems it is partly that.

Of course none of the three are working still from here!!

Please bear in mind folks that whilst the myspace prob is new i have had the email access probs for some time and i have had two techy people round one of whom was a paid professional and they couldn't work it out either. So it it can't JUST be human error cos these peeps are good out sorting out errors of all kinds - well not that good obv. You know what i mean!

Felix

Thanks for that -- i will pm you.

In that privacy menu it is already set up as allowing cookies...

God it would have been lovely if it had been that simple!!

Thanks for the suggestion anyways..

LW, are you getting enough sex? I can't help but think that a highly satisfying fuck will deliver a solution to this problem. Like my mate James says: “If in doubt, choke one out”.

But I don't want to enable all cookies - and when I try and enable specific ones (such as these) for some reason it doesn't recognise those even when I do.

Perhaps you were typing www.libcom.org instead of libcom.org in the exceptions list?

Maybe. Cheers, I'll try that later.

LW, you say you just have to click the login button - as Joseph and I have both said, it might have saved the password (or username) wrong. Have you tried deleting and re-typing your username and password on myspace and Orange? If it worked in an internet café where you didn't have the username and password saved then I'd imagine it's a problem with saved information on your computer.

grin no worries but i have tried deleting and retyping like tons of times..

Progress report - have been pming and phoning welshboy and to cut a long story short googlemail account is accessible again - yay!- at least for the time being, Orange was and isn't again now (can't win them all! ) but the most imp. thing to report back is that i can access MySpace ok if i go back to using IE just for that! Makes sense cos the computer in the net cafe uses IE.. Welshboy is trying to help me ascertain why FF doesn't access MySpace atm from my machine and there is more techy things i need to try as per his suggestions but i have to start work soon so that will have to do for today.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help etc

Myspace tech support would be best, I don't know their links with this site but I think it would be best to contact them with any concerns. Also don't you have a security question or a password reminder?
