Hitchens being subjected to waterboarding

I hadn't seen this story, but Christopher Hitchens recently volunteered to have himself subjected to waterboarding. His verdict - it's obviously fucking torture.

Say what you want about his repellent views on the war in Iraq etc, but I think Hitchens can be funny as fuck when he's debating religious pricks in that States.

I'm not going to argue that point - it's self-evident. As indeed is anything to do with religion twisted

Why does that fella have a balaclava on? Is it to make the experience more authentic?

3 July, 2008 - 20:46

Either that or he works for somebody nasty and didn't want his face shown.

Hitchens hints about this in the article.

Yeah in the interview he says that people trained in those techniques are now employed 'privately', I basically freelance torture performers.
Who do you call if you want to document how torture is actually done? Well, not anyone employed by government, cos they won't do it, but ex-military private types who have to keep their identity hidden for obvious reason.
What they are doing is probably technically a crime, even if Hitchen is consenting. You can't consent to torture, slavery etc

it's like that magician guy who wears a mask to reveal the secrets. he doesn't wanna be kicked out of the torturer inner circle.
