How old are you and guess the average age of libcom

Submitted by oisleep on 1 August, 2005 - 23:38.

i'll go first and it's obviously hardest for me as i've no data to go on

I'm 32

and i'll guess the average age of libcom is 23

try it in your eyes

24. Reckon 23's about right.

2 August, 2005 - 00:23

28 - i reckon the average age is about 26

2 August, 2005 - 01:04

I'm 19, 25 seems around the mark.

2 August, 2005 - 06:43

i am 38, but i know that i am not the oldest, am i, creepyoller?

my guess is that the average is 30,

is there a prize for the winner?

2 August, 2005 - 07:16

i guess the average user age is 21, but the average age of people who will post on this thread will be 28.

me: 31

2 August, 2005 - 07:19

OK Mr Redparty, I'll own up. I'm 53, but without the maturity of some 38 year olds.

I guess the average age of libcom users is 29.

2 August, 2005 - 08:41

I'm 35, and I reckon the average age is 30.

[statsgeek]I also reckon that the arithmetic mean is not the appropriate measure of central tendency in this case, as the small number of older posters will distort the figure. The median age would be about 23, I reckon. Maybe even younger. embarrassed [/statsgeek]

2 August, 2005 - 08:47

that's why i've decided to chop of creepyoller and whoever the youngest person is (it'll be one of jack's friends) so we don't skew the average too much

sorry creepy!!

2 August, 2005 - 08:50

Not necessarily oisleep, wait and see if the ICC joins in! There's one or two other posters who I reckon could be over 50 as well. Creepy might get counted yet.

2 August, 2005 - 08:51

i'll obviously be posting up distribution graphs and the like as well with all the necessary standard deviation information

2 August, 2005 - 08:54

Hi

38. I know how old lucy82 is, but I'm not saying.

I guess the mean will be 31.

Lots of love

Chris

Gwood morning, i'm 37 years young, 38 in a couple of months. Gadzooks. I reckon the average age of posters is older than you think. But perhaps 23 is the average age of the moderators/admin?

Pushka, Lucy, Peter Good and Seamus are all much older than me grin (and wiser I might add!) (Seamus was a shop steward in the post war period!! eek )

I've an idea, oh mighty administratoriarios, if you really want to push the average age of posters through the roof! we could do with a sub group added to this forum:

NAN - Northern Anarchist Network.

Would this be possible? There's a great pool of anarchist oldies in this group, I learn a lot from the oldies, but at the last NAN conference I told them they had a lot to learn from you lot on here and they rather agreed with that. There's a few new faces coming into NAN now as well, doing various anarchist bits and bats out there in the non-fool world - would be good to have a sub group.

I take it you'll be using chi-square to test statistical significance also. wink

Are they silver surfers? If they ask for a forum I doubt we'd have any problem setting it up, or they could just come play in General Discussion twisted

grin

(sshhhhhh...... you're giving away all the trade secrets)

2 August, 2005 - 09:42

I'm 25. Average age is mid-20s, I reckon.

greets

i'd tell you but i wouldn't want to skew the results.

(apparently people over 50 aren't to be counted?)

2 August, 2005 - 09:54

no not at all, don't take it the wrong way, only messing around sad

2 August, 2005 - 09:55

I'm 21, but i'd guess somewhere between 22 and 23

2 August, 2005 - 09:55

Welcome to the boards, Mal. Give your age by all means -- it's just me indulging in a bit of statistical sad-sackery. wink

for your own age confused

2 August, 2005 - 09:57

Just for sake of accuracy, I think darren redparty has missed the VAT off his age.

2 August, 2005 - 10:00

28, and i guess the average is probably about 22/3.

2 August, 2005 - 10:00

Well the average age so far turns out to be 35.9.

I'm 38.

Also, if you statisticians are taking outliers out (eg people over 50, which I didn't, then you should also take them out at the other end, eg 19 year olds)

2 August, 2005 - 10:07

I'm 23, average age probably about 27.

2 August, 2005 - 10:08

I'm 24, but I was 23 only last week, so I'm not old really. I reckon the average age is about 25ish.

2 August, 2005 - 10:08

i only said i would take the one oldest and one youngest person out that's all

2 August, 2005 - 10:10

Are you really 23 Jack? I always pictured you as being in your mid-thirties!
