I Have to hand it to John,..
Hello peeps
I may have slated him a bit recently re: dodgy film and music taste but John. has really pulled a rabbit out of the hat this time with the new content about the earliest recorded strike in ancient Egypt about three billion years ago..quite a coup!!! And they say we libcommers live in the past - whatever would make them say this???
Seriously John. i was really impressed with this - just great. I wonder how you came across the transcript? Did you simply google the words earliest and recorded and strike or was it a lucky find??
I have always found ancient history pretty fascinating -tho it is a bit depressing to think we have been having the same conflicts for over 3000 years... nothing new under the sun huh?
Bearing in mind nothing lasts for ever i wonder when and where the last recorded strike in history will take place and will this be because of
- revolution
- global extermination of the human species
- total dictatorship worldwide
- ecological destruction of entire planet
- colonisation by advanced alien species
- no need to record anything as everything is known by everyone simultaneously as we are all telepathically linked with or without the use of advanced IT..
What are your thoughts peeps?? Serious or silly..
Love

3 billion years ago? Did the primordial slime refuse to self-replicate?
are you excluding primordial slime from the multitude?
haven't you read your mariarosa primordia ooza? you and your orthodox marxism conor, i dunno.

Either he is stalking me on myspace or it is a very odd coincidence.

Er well i have no idea who you are on myspace, i didn't know you were even on myspace. I got a google alert with a blog post which mentioned the strike, so i googled the strike and found the account of it, then put it in the library. I thought it was pretty damn cool.
grace has a book on class struggle in ancient greece which would be cool too. it's massive. it'd be great if she could summarise it in 2,000 words though...
actually, thanks for mentioning this, Lone Wolf - i didnt notice this article at first until i read this thread, and it's actually really neat (so, thanks to John for posting it, too, heh).
it was difficult to understand what was going on in it, though, even with the notes. am i wrong, or did it not show how it ended? (ie: did the workers lose or win?)
even better if she could summarise it in 2,000 english words ...

Ah I can feel less paranoid. I visited the village six years back and was a bit freaked out when a day after posting about the strike it cropped up here.
You don't happen to have the URL for the original blog post handy do you so I can track them down.
Ah found it ( I presume) at http://www.salon.com/tech/htww/2007/02/23/ramses/
yeah that was it. What did you say about it on your blog, out of interest?

It wasn't so much a blog as the creation of an identity based on the same text. In terms of the article you might want to link to the pictures of the scribe and the location of his house.
Hey some good stuff on this thread. Will click on these links later when i have a bit more time.
Glad to be of service Feighnt!!
But noone except makaira has contributed to the last strike debate... c'mon peeps or are you just gonna let makaira and i rule all...
(which might not be a bad idea..
