This is a discussion forum.
You do not have to say anything, but anything you do say may be used against you in a Wetherspoons brawl.
It may harm your defence if you fail to wink now to indicate irony you later rely on in the pub.

no irony at all, if it wasn't for the whole fucking state thing and upholding class rule i'd love to be a cop, I mean the whole busting each others balls all day thing is cool for a start, then there's the spending days trying to bring down some fucker you've been after for ages. Certainly beats a 9-5 office job.

I mean who didn't think Taggart was one cool fucker?

meh, dont see why (non-cop) detectives might not be around after the revolution - specialists who are good at finding pedophiles and murderers and the like.

not that they do find them for the most part in real life, from what i gather. but it could still be useful for some cases.

gonna go into that post-revolution, revol?

well that's the dream, when i was a kid i liked the idea of working in forensics, i've found out loads of other people did too.

19 November, 2007 - 09:13

my sister's studying forensics. she tells me how to get away with murder black bloc

19 November, 2007 - 09:15

have you ever thought of going into something forensical (probably not a real word) in school, if you havent already? er, and if you have the money/time to spare?

i mean, i dont know a huge bit about it, but i'm sure there must be some forensics-related jobs which arent all coppy.

Does this mean that those DVDs still haven't made it to boul yet? smile

19 November, 2007 - 10:32

huh?

19 November, 2007 - 12:43

The Wire is the best thing ever written for TV!

incidentally her first answer was 'be a cop', taking us full circle cool

I wanted to be a detective-type cop when I was little (maybe 9 or 10), but then I realised you had to be a cunt as well. sad

You can say that again Mr. Rebelworker.

19 November, 2007 - 13:45

The Wire, The Shield and Deadwood.
In that order.

19 November, 2007 - 13:47

i wanted to be a pirate.

I still do.

19 November, 2007 - 15:19

Nah, got my dvd's cheers for that.

Yeah, there will be a need for investigative skills post-revolution. No comment on Revol wanting to be a cop. I might wait 3 months and go out looking to slap him down the pub though wink

19 November, 2007 - 15:47

Thing is though Revol, you would actually be THE SHITTEST cop ever. You can't even get your shit together to be ready for someone to actually physically drive you round to someone elses house and have dinner MADE for you.

19 November, 2007 - 16:37

went to see 'american gangster' last night felt pretty much the same thing. although i would have totally taken the money.
actually from the book 'pushers out' it seems like community activists got up to a fair bit of detective work in getting rid of drug dealers, as well as some argy bargy when it was called for. but no money, or cushy 'get away with murder' card either.

19 November, 2007 - 16:58

The Wire is ridiculously good.

19 November, 2007 - 17:06

Fuck sake , I guess this is another TV show I could be watching!!!

I only follow three series:
24
Heroes
the Ultimate Fighter

I just don't have time for any more!!!

19 November, 2007 - 18:10

What is so good about The Wire? I watched the 3rd and 4th seasons and I enjoyed it well enough (although the 4th season kind of sucked) but I don't see what's so amazing about it. Is it because I missed the 1st and 2nd seasons? Is it because I don't watch TV so I have nothing to compare it to in order to see that it's amazing relative to what else is on TV?

Actually, given that it's almost solely British people I know who really like it, I suspect it's just a British thing where you people can tell underneath the ridiculous Baltimore accents that those ugly motherfuckers are secretly Brits.

CSI did that.

19 November, 2007 - 19:11

Na I never watched CSI, although it looks decent.

Serious back in 95, i was 14 and convinced I wanted to examine dead bodies for a living like Scully used to do lots in XFiles.

19 November, 2007 - 19:37

Corpses are a bit boring, really. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.

19 November, 2007 - 19:42

I have, I did undergrad anatomy, they defo weren't boring!!
