I'm not. I'm lying in bed. Cause it's fucking early so it is. I might get up in two hours, then I'll do my hair for a bit. Then I might show up tonight and drink a pint slowly, and convinve myself that the barmaid smiled at me, cause she was a nice wee girl so she was. Then it will be time to go home and continue my slide towards essentialism and my frankly indecent flirtation with Habermas...
Bookfair aftermath [Was - I'm at the bookfair]
Thanks to everyone who passed by the libcom stall and came to the packed out libcom drinks in the slighlty strange Che pub afters! We made a couple of hundred pounds on the stall selling pamphlets and flags, and from donations. Thanks to zobag for making the flags and everyone who bought or donated! Your money helps the site stay online. Cheers to LW for helping out on the stall towards the end when we were knackered. It was great to meet new people and people who we have met before, and we had loads of positive feedback on the site.
For the negative note - its sad that the bookfair attracts so many anti-socials who hang around in the entrance/outside drinking themselves into oblivion and smoking. I really dont think this does anything for the bookfair.
Lastly, thanks to teh bookfair people for helping us out, making sure we could go online and re-locating our stall to a better place for electrcity cables.

I don't see why it's anti-social to stand outside?

You sound like some retired Wing Commander from Tunbridge Wells complaining about the wino's at the local bus shelter.
The irony is there are fewer of those people each year anyway.
Oh and smoking and drinking are not illegal, yet.
If you say so. Personnally i find it depressing to leave at 4pm and find that the stairs/hallway stinks of pot and people sitting around swigging out of cans and bottles.
I didn't really notice the pot smoking tbh, but I don't see why it's particularly anti-social. I was standing outside drinking for quite a while because it was hot inside the bookfair, buying cans is cheaper than the pub, couldn't take dogs into the pub and just because it was nice to stand outside and chat to people - nobody seemed to be causing any problems. For a lot of people the bookfair is at least as much a social event as it is an opportunity to go to meetings and buy crap, so why shouldn't we stand outside and drink in the street?
Because as the bookfair is largely a image promotion kind of event i think it does nothing for it (especially considering its relationship with venues) for people to behave in any sort of way which could be considered anti-social by joe public who actiing on stereotypes are hyper-sensitive to these kind of things.
edit/ but then it depends what you want the bookfair to be. Im not at the bookfair for socialisng. If you are then i guess you expect a different kind of atmosphere to me!

I hope you're happy, LibCom. I had to put up Sorry sulking over missing out on cake for 4 hours.
Also, I thought there were far fewer hippies and crusty types this year compared to last year. However, it was good to see a healthy punk contingent.
