I think Jess (I hope so) was making an ironic comment about Bukowski's "joke" in reference to prison rape. Personally, I also find all the "so gay" references rather repulsive.

but as it is many young homosexual people also use 'gay' in a mildly derogatory manner towards certain things that are overly camp, cheesey etc It's the context that gives it meaning and makes it offensive or not. Conor and his oiled up iron pumping Venice Beach buddies are gay as fuck regardless of whether they have came to terms with their desire to do each other or not. 
As for cunt, get fucked, it's a general insult/term of endearment for many of us and we aren't going to stop using it cause some PC ballbag from the states get's offended by it.

i'm in agreement, tho' i'd exempt 'cunt' from that list. it can have a very precise meaning as an insult, different from 'prick' or other such.

Yeh, lets act like anarchists. No wait, we are anarchists. People 'acting' in some sort of role as an anarchist is one of the biggest turn-offs, it can even lead to pretending words only have one meaning and that context is not important.

And about being "PC", well, I think we need to practice what we believe in. Gallows humor or bar room talk aside, I would think you want to promote the best aspects of your politics and the groups you belong to. But maybe I'm just old school.

Somehow i'd imagine jokes about prison rape wouldn't be to far up your list of worries if you were actually faced with getting raped in a prison shower, no?
As for taunting people for being gay, of course that's fucking cuntish, which is exactly when many young people (gay people included) use gay as a mild insult for something it is aimed at everything but actual homosexuality. Personally I only use it towards things that are ubber camp or cheesey, like say an Italian "heterosexual" in a pink D&G t shirt with white cargo pants.
As for rape jokes well i'd imagine only a prick would make them in the personal company of someone who had been raped, much in the same way most people wouldn't make Kurt Cobain shotgun jokes infront of someone who'd just lost a family member to a suicidal shotgun blast to the face.
The important thing is context, motive and a bit of fucking wit, or do you prefer to just get offended at the very words themselves and posit a blanket ban on humour involving such topics? Do you get offended by say a surreal comedy sketch about a shadow raper, who rapes peoples shadows?
