The report found protesters were threatened with arrest after invoking their right to not to disclose personal details. They were also subjected to repeated searches, and police seized more than 2,000 items, including a clown outfit, cycle helmets, tent pegs and board games. The confiscation of the camp's supply of soap was justified by police "because protesters might use it to make themselves slippery and evade the grip of police", the report says.

It's not as if they were likely to use it for washing.

Too true. I'd love to hear the reasoning behind taking the board games.

I love the part about how cops were reporting bee stings and toothaches as being caused by clashes with hippies (watering eyes and a short stint of vomiting are all I generally experience in my contact with hippies).

I'm a bit confused about how they were able to confiscate loads of very specific personal items but were somehow unable to disperse the crowd.
