Author Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday. So it goes.

Though best know for 'Slaughterhouse five', written after he survived the bombing of Dresden his novel 'Jailbird' has the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti as a major part of it.

He also started every talk he gave with this quote from the socialist Eugene Debs: "while there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free."

The world is truly a darker place.

"Perhaps, when we remember wars, we should take off our clothes and paint ourselves blue and go on all fours and grunt like pigs. That would surely be more appropriate than noble oratory and shows of flags and well-oiled guns."

Ambassador Minton, in Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle

Damnit!... I was supposed to meet him, too; and there were so many more who would've liked to... When you're time comes, your time comes, but we're all gonna miss him... He was a great writer, and a great person, and through his works, he brought ideas to others. What more can you ask for? Rest in piece, Kurt.

I started reading him 2 weeks ago, when I picked up "Cat's Cradle" on the sidewalk. Talk about a wampeter.

would have been better if he hadn't done so many American Express commercials. I can't imagine he was impoverished or anything like that.

What does that have to do with anything?
