Last night I realised I didn't have to go to work today...

... and I was really happy about it!

About an hour ago, I realised that knowing I didn't have to work at one job, I arranged to go into my other one to do an extra day. Oh fuck.

I hope my boss forgot!

I've never been sacked before... has anyone here?

I did my best, but no. sad My personal best is 3 attempts made to fire me in one eighteen month period.

18 April, 2006 - 11:38

dude, there should be a minimum requirement here for being sacked at least once. Extra working class credentials if it is due to downsizing/cost cuts or capitol flight from the country.

But then the mass organised power of combined labour had to go and fuck it up. angry

Hmmm well I lost my last temp job cos of restructuring. But I wouldn't really count that as sacking. It's way more proletarian than some monthly-salaried ponce in a factory though angry

That & making sure that the boss was having his personal mail opened, and threatening to bust him for having an affair. wink

18 April, 2006 - 11:46

Button that's harcore.

I've never been sacked but I've only had two jobs. Last one I left, and the fuckers stung me for £400 they'd apparently overpaid me. Of course, I'd spent it all and was back on my student loan before they asked for it back roll eyes angry

exellent grin

I've actually been fired only couple times... And both times we (as in all who got sacked) fucked the place up trashing everything and stealing as much as we could. I guess that counts as something, lol!

18 April, 2006 - 11:52

just the once, but i've only had two full-time jobs, one of which is current. was on probation and told not to come back, no reason. i know where the fucker parks his mercedes though black bloc

JDMF, the button - nice one! grin

18 April, 2006 - 15:28

They can't sack you just for that.

I've been sacked for theft and once because the owner decided it would be cheaper if he sacked me.

Still I've had 10 jobs so I must be doing something right.

18 April, 2006 - 15:34

shit, i've had easily over 50 jobs grin but then again i am old...

so percentage wise if i have been fired twice it is not too bad, is it?

bloody hell, how did you manage that, you cant be that old JDMF.

mind you I'm four years older than Zobag and I've had 5 times as many jobs, and you've have 5 times as many jobs as me, so you must be four years older than me. No wonder old people look so tired they must have had thousands of jobs.

18 April, 2006 - 15:50

I've only had five jobs & I'm 36. I feel bereft. No precarity for the button. sad No membership of the precariat for me. cry cry

Admin - Spelling corrected angry

the button - Oh really? tongue

18 April, 2006 - 15:54

perhaps its not my age but just my quick feet!

Now i have been in my current job for few years now - longest post ever (though have changed jobs inside the same employer 3 times already).

Ban me and the multitude of the precariat will rise up as one pink-clad whistle-blowing tosser, and smite you down. black bloc

18 April, 2006 - 16:05

i now started to count my jobs and yeah, it tops 50. I started at 13 so that gave me a bit of a headstart grin

Button: Libcom clamp down viciously on that kind of thing. Refused hasn't posted since supporting my campaing and I'm only being kept alive until my show trial.

John. says if I keep quiet he'll give me a couple valium beforehand.

We've been at the boss for a few months now for unpaid overtime, unpaid annual leave and his habit of giving us our schedules on the day before the working week starts and he's just brushed it off each time. We have now compiled a list of about 80% (+/- 2400) customer e-mail addresses for all four of his shops and if he doesn't pay soon...

As I've often said on here, there's definitely a place for that kind of stuff. I love it, but then I am a vindictive bastard. smile

i was fired once and downsized once. score two for me.

18 April, 2006 - 16:18

I guess i've been fired. Thats what they do when you just stop showing up right? If not, I currently have 14 jobs.

It depends on whether they stopped paying you smile

18 April, 2006 - 16:19

i must be too much of a goody two-shoes, since i've only ever been sacked due to the pub i was working at going bust.

although i was threatened with being kicked out of cub scouts circle A

18 April, 2006 - 16:53

Never had a permenant job, so unless a temp position no longer being available counts, nope, never been sacked.

I am so precarious 8)

Postscript to this story, my boss had forgotten - wahey!

Also, I got an interview for the job on that other thread. And today I'm eating the leftover belgian chocolate biscuits from our meeting this morning. Work is good right now 8)

be careful. in my experience they only feed you nice things just before they crap on your head. its got so that when we walk into a meeting and there are danish pastries on the table everyone starts looking really tense..

i've been made redundant once and 'let go' after a trial period once but never exactly sacked in twelve jobs.
