The libcommunity poster similes and metaphors thread..
Hey peeps
The idea for this thread started when i posted on the Jef superpowers thread. I said it felt a bit odd getting off with a hottie cos they were wearing a skinny tie and that reminded me for an instant of John. so it felt a bit wrong.. and i liked the resultant rhyme... a little bit wrong, a little bit John. and then i went on to think that well mebbe that is quite a good metaphor for me when i look at Johns posts cos often i broadly agree (apart from feminist and AR stuff - obv!!! ) but sometimes i find something a bit wrong with the posts - a little bit wrong, a little bit John, sooo i could say if someone is being a bit wrong on summat but are not waaay offtrack i could say they were being a bit John... ergo the usage would be.. "Well i broadly agree but you were a bit John on the latter point you made..."
Or.. if someone is being unduly negative and pouring cold water on a post however positive and wellargued and well intended we could say they were being a bit "cantdo".. about it.. "Christ you are being a right miserable cantdo.."
Or.. if someone is being really responsible at a young age or an early stage in a relationship or summat we could say "wow moving in with them already.. that is very Catch of you.."
Or.. if it is a complicated techy point being made that prolly only Felix Frost would get we could say .."tbh mate, that is a bit Felix for me.."
umm that is enough examples...
So what fun poster metaphors and similes can you come up with??
You can think up one for yourself if you like...

if something is witty, scathing, arrogant, pretentious, grudgling endearing and self aware all at the same time we could say it's abit 'revol'.![]()
S'funny but i kinda knew your name would come up on this thread pretty soon... just didn't know it would be by you...
I guess that is your legendary self awareness..
No, it's just narcissism.
No, it's just narcissism.
why the either/or?
What's the fun in calling something "revol" when the only thing, or individual, you would ever call 'revol' is revol or the things he does?

Umm i am thinking mebbe this is not a fun thread for you makaira..I could call lots of stuff revol...
Also it is not the revol thread, exclusively, like...
I'm having great fun
I'm having great fun
Ah well that is good then. Good to see that emoticon.
you're all a bunch of yelts
you're all a bunch of yelts angry
Easy there now, no need for insults...
Jack.
My hair looks a bit thin lately. Maybe I'm going the button.

Compliment on my business success

Thanks jef and for bumping the thread but i meant not so much a metaphor for me but in answer to the question i asked earlier in the Stacy thread as to whether or not there is a metaphorical opposite to the Persian flaw. I would still like to hear any suggestions tho it is more likely to be from you than Jack .
i would like to play - but TBH my technical prowess will shame you all
An emo kid: a revol68. "Cheer up, revol68."

It does not have to be technically clever tbh tho you can if you want to
- more about showing an understanding of the proclivities of some of the posters - their Persian flaw for example [hints would still like answer to that q re: its opposite]
calling someone 'mad' to signal dislike: to do a revol

doing a lem - to have a discussion with yourself over the space of 6 rapid posts with numerous edits.
doing a lem - to have a discussion with yourself over the space of 6 rapid posts with numerous edits and ask questions that aren't actually answerable and then complain no one has answered them. Then insult people.
And overuse the excessively shit libcom lol smiley.
I second jef costello. All those in agreement type "I."
Lem's fine...he does get ignored a little bit and really, people do worse things on here than make multiple posts.
Well exactly - I second Alan.
Alan and me v. Jef and makaira in a fight -who would win??
(Obv. Alan and I but still...
)
well you're both wrong. making multiple posts is the greatest of bulletin board errors; but my questions are answerable.
Lem's fine...he does get ignored a little bit and really, people do worse things on here than make multiple posts.
there's a reason he gets ignored it's cause most of his posts only make sense to him.
Alan and me v. Jef and makaira in a fight -who would win??
Well I haven't seen Makaira nor read a physical description but we could definitely battter the pair of you.
In a comradely way

Dunno Alan and i may be on the short side but we are feisty and pack a pretty powerful punch...
Also we have a Secret Weapon - makaira is paranoid about peeps who don't wear deodorant... all Alan has to do is leave it off for a few days, makaira faints, we win.
to makaira = to be obsessive with use of powerful deodorants i.e. "whew mate overdone it with that spray tonight - well makaira'd up! "
