MuayThai reality show

Dunno who's interested but whatever
here's a stream of the first episode of Contender Asia. It's the same as the Contender series but set in Singapore, and muaythai instead of boxing.
There's an English dude David Paquette who trains at KO in Bethnal Green. Paul Marsh trains there and I did for a while. English dude looks like he could do well in it.

cheers, conor. I'm always on the lookout for quality reality shows wink

TUF apparently is changing the program so that it will be more focused on training and fighting. so they will accept 32 fighters to begin with and they basically have to fight right away to get a spot among the 16 that will move into the house.

Episodes 2 and 3 are up on the same site now. Just knock off the end off the URL and put in episode number accordingly

There's yet another new MMA reality show coming out that the M-1 organization is starting. They have Fyodor Emalanienko (how the fuck do you spell that name?) and the show will be about getting to fight him. A bunch of heavyweights will compete for the glory.

Fedor?
Unlucky for whoever wins - they will get destroyed.
Actually last year there was rumours that Monson would fight him !

13 February, 2008 - 00:55

Fedor, that's his name. But yeah, they'll probably get destroyed, but I think that's the point. It would be like putting the winner of TUF up against the current titleholder in whatever weight class. I hope Cotoure gets his fight with him, should be good.

I haven't seen many Monson fights. Think I saw one where he fought (and lost) against Tim Sylvia. But I take it Monson cuts the mustard?

13 February, 2008 - 01:11

Sylvia is about 10 inches taller than Monson and used his reach to his advantage. Horrible fight. Went the distancve and Monson kept shooting for takedowns but Sylvia completely neutralised him.
Monson fought in Sept and got beat, but also won world grappling gold medal at FILA championships late last year and also got his bjj blackbelt. Dunno what he's up to at the moment.

Fuck, I just watched episode 3 - the JWP vs Rafik fight is AMAZING.
It's as if it's the final or some shit

Yeah that's no prize at all. It would be one thing getting some tips off him or training with him, but winning the tournament and then having to fight him? A free '1' in the defeats column to kickstart your career doesn't sound like much of a perk to me.

13 February, 2008 - 11:27

Serious, there's not even any point in it unless they're getting a sweet paycheck. I don't know how much money there is in M-1 though.
Watch ep3 of that MuayThai Contender, best episode yet, amazing fight.

Just watched episode 3, and as you promised conor it was a fucking awesome fight. Great episode as well. That Rafik guy was such a cunt.

Decent show, though production value is a bit low. The hostess is hot.

Haha even Revol watched a bit cos of her. I've not seen ep6 yet, wanna see Paquette fight

Just watched episode 6, very good fight. I want to watch episode 7, but can only find a chinese version.

2 March, 2008 - 16:30

post a link to ep 6 please!

2 March, 2008 - 16:43

I download them... The torrent is here.

2 March, 2008 - 16:51

I don't bother with d'loads if there are quality streams but I might make do with that one, cheers.

2 March, 2008 - 17:12

streaming is faster, but if you're on a spotty dsl line like mine dl is much much better. I'm giving ep 7 chinese version a try, hopefully just subs and no dubbing.

Just watched 6 too, Paquette was unlucky I thought. he started really well, some beautiful teeps and effective use of the rear low leg kick. With Dhazabar getting docked points twice I don't see how he ended up coming out on top. Good fight anyway.
Can't wait to see Yodsaenklai (sp?) fight again, he's amazing to watch. And JWP's always good to watch.

3 March, 2008 - 07:37

Yeah, I was a bit surprised that he lost. And I was pretty shocked when Dzhabar (it's Jabbar really) kicked him in the head while Paquette was lying on the ground. Thing is, I haven't seen that many Muay Thai fights so it's hard for me to judge them sometimes.

Yodsaenklai (beats me how you spell it) is awesome. I hope he takes out that other Thai (is he Thai?) since he just took the easiest route fighting a way weaker opponent in the first episode (obviously a lot smarter, but doesn't score points with me).

3 March, 2008 - 12:22

I hope it's a Yodsaenklai v JWP final.

3 March, 2008 - 15:56

Yeah, that's what I hope will happen. Didn't Yodenslakai just beat JWP for the belt? I think they mentioned it in sometime.

3 March, 2008 - 16:17

yeah Yodsaenklai tastefull remind JWP of that fact in the first episode wink

22 March, 2008 - 19:02

Episode 9 had Yodensaenklai fighting Naruepol. Won't spoil anything.

24 March, 2008 - 18:44

Ep 10 has a pretty good fight, I would say that the winner of that fight is a serious contender he could take it all.
