Well, I found the show quite interesting, didn't think it was that good though.
The guy who did it said in the debate afterwards that he did the show so people could see what kind of thing Nazis were doing as he felt that giving them publicity and then ripping them to shreds was the best way to fight them. The liberal Lord seemed to agree with this as well, saying that the BNP's ideas would lose out in "the marketplace of ideas" which would be nice, but in reality is a really poor argument for giving them a platform. The BNP address a number of issues that the three major parties fail to so I think giving them a platform is dangerous.
I also didn't like the way they were laying into the BNP for being racist or trying to make it out as if the BNP are all Nazi skins, it's a really poor way of fighting them.

Yeah it was interesting... still it really annoyed me the way they exaggerated the danger of them. It also kept going on about how oppressed they were by the cops, and that's why they kept the venues secret, completely ignoring the thousands of anti-fascist white people who try to knock the shit out of them wherever they go.
The discussion after was better than I thought, the BNP guy wasn't very good. That Liberal was excellent! They really made him look a tit when talking about the Jews, he came across like a nutter. Seems like that's a good way to go.
Same the black guy, the Muslim and the scottish tv bloke kept talking shite though. Still at least the scot was a quite blokey white guy who hated the BNP.

yeah i watched it, did you see that guy at the pub gig that brought his son, he looked about 9, evan though he'd had his face blured out, i still think they're cocks.
And did you see that girl, she looked about 16ish, singing about jews and death, aparantly she's on the nazi top 10 list becuase of her sucsess.

hmmm no platformism is a very counter productive tactic in regards the BNP and something that the remenants of AFA did well acknowledge (even if it did lead to them just tailing the BNP's tactics with the IWCA).
The fact Jimmer thinks they shouldn't be given any platform cos they tacle issue the main parties fail to address is indicative of how little confidence the left has in itself and the lack of imagination in engaging the rest of the class.

I don't think they did.
Smashing off the streets seemed pretty effective. That's why they had to change tack. AFAIK that's all AFA acknowleged

But the libertarian left isn't going to be given a platform in the mainstream media. Alongside new labour they could well look quite good.
