I wouldn't have thought that a game where you throw rocks at tanks would have been much fun...

But I like the BBC quote they use on the cover: "A bit like life really".

grin

well the israeli army claims stones can disable a merkhova (to justify shooting stone-throwing kids), which could be the basis of a rudimentary 'hit the weakspot' game that would be entertaining enough to keep your average leftist busy for all of five minutes

Maybe for that missions not dying is the object? I note that the last one is inside an IDF control room. Do you get to take out Peretz eventually?

I don't know how effective a video game, especially a FPS, will be for generating sympathy or informing. I used to own this game called Mercenaries, which was essentially a big advertisement (or perhaps a way of educating the public about the usefulness of such forces and how they're all really, really good guys that just happen to make money off fighting) for real-life private-enterprise armies like the ones used in Iraq by the US, and the story and premise were so terribly insulting to one's intelligence that I tended to just block both factors out of my head as I played it. The Western teenagers who try this game will probably have a laugh at it but not seriously contemplate any of the story, especially if the text dialogues are skippable by hitting a button on the keyboard. I think there must be something in the brain that disables the desire to learn when one is having fun, as the two are rarely possible simultaneously.

As for trying this game, I'm afraid my computer doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. I guess I'll have to go out back and throw apples from the grounds at by-passing recycling lorries to get a simulation of Palestinian life.
