Not sure how I feel about this. S4 was a bit weak, kinda picked-up afteer a few episodes.

nah, i rewatched series 4 not long ago. after going through the first three series too, virgin on demand innit. and it was just as good as the other series to be honest. yeah they got in a few more 'zany' situations, but the dialogue was not different in anyway from the other series. ...except when mark's shouting at people, of course ("you called her a knucklehead, then said she should knuckle her head down or you'd knuckle her head").

Series 1 stands head and shoulders over the rest of the series'. It was just more natural.

Series 4 was pretty shit really, I think they were trying to make it more mainstream, more of a conventional sitcom by stripping away the bonecurdlingly accurate descriptions of what it's like to be over 25 in shitty English suburbia in exchange for wackiness. I bet Series 4 will get shown in the US, it's that kinda lame humour.
Yeah agreed. You can bet most of us will be tuning in tho. However patchy it may be, there will still be some good bits.
Ah, i remember the quiet arrival of the low-key first season.....
