You could download uTorrent and follow their guides: http://www.utorrent.com/guides.php.
Torrent help
Just download bittornado, it's the best one that I've found for windows.
Once you've installed it go to somewhere like pirate bay or one of the many other torrent sites. Find a file/film/programme that you want and download the .torrent file. Save it somewhere on your computer then open it with bittornado and you're away.
Make sure that the torrent has at least one "seeder", the more the merrier as the more people sharing the file means the faster the download.
Also don't forget to scan what you download for viruses and read the comments about the torrent if they're available on the site.
LW, i'm impressed![]()
Alan, when you get the software installed (i use utorrent personally), pm me your email and i'll send you a kg invite (private tracker for politico/cult/classic cinema)
Cheers JK.
I use utorrent too and have kg - we are so, like, in synch.

I used Azureus a few years back and largely got pissed off with it. I found two episodes of Twin Peaks and am attempting to download them but there's no seeds online. How do you restrict your search to files where a seed's currently online?
Agreed on the superiority of Soulseek.

Seriously. My queue (sp?) is full of files just sitting there. Fuckers.

You can nearly always sort your search results by how many seeders each torrent has, for pirate bay you just click on the SE column on the right hand side, the ones with the highest numbers are the best to download, and ones with 0 just aren't worth thinking about. I would also suggest using utorrent.
If you use private trackers then people are more likely to seed and reseed because there are bonuses etc.
torrents are better than soulseek except for the most obscure stuff. I thought it was still going though, has it been down long?
I've just realised I cleared 7 gb of space on my HD so I could burn stuff for LW. I'm off to fuck up my ratio on KG.
What is the best way to clear space off a hard drive? I am downloading two full seasons of shows and it seems to be taking up too much space. I don't have much on my computer really, besides that. Is there anything I can do or programs I can run or some other magic copmuter thingy so I will have room for all my crime drama?
you could use a zipping tool to shrink the files I suppose.
best bet is to clear space before you start downloading. You can also copy onto disk things that have downloaded already and delete them. Even though the torrent is for a season you can delete individual episodes. You need to set download priorities to make episodes download in the right order.
Not really expensive, you could get an extra 80gb's for as little as 20/30 quid if you shop around. I notice your apparently in Texas so it’ll probably work out cheaper, most computer parts are cheaper in usa I think but don’t quote me on that.
Is it a pc or a laptop more importantly, pc’s are really easy to add an extra hard drive to, laptops a bit trickier due to them probably not having the space for it.
Windows xp I’m guessing?
If you want a step by step process to it I could walk you through it or probably find a decent guide somewhere but don’t be put off its pretty easy anyway.
Or if you want to cop out just buy an external hard drive but that’s no where near as fast or as fun as pulling it open and playing with all the shiny bits
Oh do ya know if its an ide or a sata hard drive you have already just as a note?
EDIT :μTorrent tends to be a better/faster program than using the built in opera torrent feature, more control and things to play with as well, not used the firefox add on so can't comment.
Ah it's both a mac and a laptop, double screwed :/. Sorry I tried not talk technically, I suck at communication.
Laptops are a pain in the arse to add extra internal hard drives to because theres usually no physical room to put them in, plus most laptops are built so its bloody annoying to actually get into them. The lunchbox’s too small for the sandwich.
Your best or easiest bet is probably picking up an external hard drive. Its effectively the same thing, like space to save files on but it’s a smallish box you plug it into the laptop when you want the files on it.
What you want to look for is called a firewire external hard drive. Just to be specific.
Firewire’s like the mac version of usb.

OK I'm giving up the ghost and I'm gonna attempt to understand this shit. I installed some Torrents on my parents' PC a few years ago. Hardly ever seemed to work and I rarely found what I was looking for, but the technology seems to have improved now so perhaps someone could give me some help on how this is supposed to go. You need to download 2 programmes right? What are the best ones? Hook me up...
