Trolling Britain IRL
Thinking of moving to the UK, along with about half the population of Dublin. Questions;
Where is good?
What are rents generally like?
Can I claim your dole?
How much is your dole?
I have some contacts in your tabloids I sell stories to, will this affect my dole?
Basingstoke is particularly shit
I think you mean Amazingstoke!
Your doleis £60 p/w lol. In Ireland its like a million euro and twice as much if you are a foreign.
yeah but you have to pay for healthcare, we get foreigns comming here just to tour our hospitals, and I don't mean the nurses.
You can come live in Brighton, it's overpriced, small and most of the population are spastics. Just like Dublin!
and yea it'd fuck your dole unless you can keep it under the table.
I thought all of Dublin was decamping to New York?
BTW no more Irishes in London...we're swamped yo.

1) Well you like clubs, scenesters and night life, so probably brighton or london is your best bet.

3) You can definitely get income support straight away. Not sure about JSA and housing benefit.
4) £65 a week, plus housing benefit to cover your rent
5) Yes, so either keep schtum about it or make sure you do less than 14 hours a week, which will give you a reduction in your JSA but won't leave you cut off.
Awesome.
Pff Weeler heard I was moving to Londons and is ALL UP ON MY NUTS WHUT!
I was going to recommend Manchester or Newcastle because they also have a big gay scene but then I remembered he's not gay.
lol you implied he was gay and then did a thinly veiled retractioN
1-0 to Refused
Definitely recommend London. Lived there for a few years (about 20 years ago admittedly) and often return for visits. Great city with loads going on. Has more than its fair share of nutters on the fringes of anarchism but all big cities seem to have that. I work in software development and there appears to be a wealth of jobs in London even now. Always been tempted to return but the latent bigot in me couldn't bear to hear my kids talking in an English accent!!!
I'm pretty sure you can't claim JSA unless you've been resident for a period of time. London's a good place to live if you can find work.
Don't move in with Conor and Alan, there would be lulz but you'd be living on the wrong side of the river.
Move in with 'Conor and Alan'?
Is there something I don't know? I thought Alan was looking to get the fuck out of London, as evidenced by his mentioning of TEFL shit.
But I think it would be funny if you did.
You're losing it, costello.
You've got to have it to lose it.
What is Jef? Seriously.

Any idea of how long I would have to be resident? Because Ireland is in the EEA we dont have to take the habitual residence test and Ive heard of people simply transferring their welfare claims from dublin to the UK.
Not sure. You might do better to ask someone involved in LCAP or something, they're more likely to know the ins and outs.
Or stop any irish person in the street and ask them. I will do that.
You've got to have it to lose it.
sssssssssssssssmokin'

oh yeah plus I'll be north of the river this time
though south is also lovely

Unless its changed very recently irish citizens are covered by exactly the same rights as british citizens, the only different thing is you're not allowed to serve in the irish parliament, and a UK parliament or assembly simultaneously, though even that might gat changed. dunno if it would effect you though.
Choccy's considering it btw Weeler. I think you two would be cute, if a bit like a low rent US sitcom.
EDIT: clearly north of the river, off to Kilburn...my sides is for Nigerians, Bolivians and Poles yo.
EDIT 2: And Berkshire.
I am very much looking forward to being back in London, though I'll be mad busy for at least a year and thus won't see anyone... even still.
I am not spooning alan.

wacky
Have a job interview in londons on Monday if any libcoms are around after I would consider meeting for a drink, flying back at 9pm.
Awesome mate - GOOD LUCK
Fuck, London will be AMAZING if we're there!

1, This is the UK. Nowhere is good. Even Choccy felt that Pompey was shit, and he's from the european hate capital. (Basingstoke is particularly shit tho, so avoid)
2. Depends. Flea pit or skip?
3. I never have, so you can have mine.
4. Dunno. Enough for a packet of fags mebbe?
5. No.
