UFC 143

GOING TO BE INSANE!!!!!

Diaz, Nelson, condit, werdum, kosheck all on one card, Barao, stacked card, here is my prediction

Diaz over condit

Barao over Jorg

I want big country to win but werdum will probably take it.

Kosheck will win, but I think it will be pretty boring decision.

I really hope diaz wins however condit is a sound fighter, it was hard to watch him cave mcdonalds face in, the kids eyesocket looked like it collapsed.

Anyone gonna be watching?

I actually agree with your picks above except Barao cos I don't know him.
I'd love to see Koscheck get smashed, but it wob't happen.

Nelson could maybe take Werdum as people forget he's actually got good cardio, a good chin (Dos Santos fight) and good BJJ (blackbelt) - I think that'll go to a decision but expect Werdum to take it.

Diaz wins by TKO rd 2
Werdum by unanimous decision
Koscheck by unanimous decision

I'll be at work. I'll go with the favourites too, Diaz, Werdum & Koscheck.

It's not a stacked card. The main event should be good but otherwise two mid-ranked heavyweights and a has been against a never was.

I also predict BJJ92 to continue to be a douche.

at bjj today i did this hting where if they put their arms under your legs in guard and try and throw you over, i did variations from there, one was you grab the sleeves and clamp down on their arms with your legs, back crawl away get inverted hooks inbetween their legs, sit up grab their belt, bring foot inside leg and pull yourself up so you have their back.

You can also backwalk till you can put feet on the biceps and go for a triangle or you can just put feet on hips and shrimp away or let them throw you over and you roll adjust shoulder and roll back to guard, what is this called, I want to find some clips of it to drilll at home till my next private.

Condit fought smart and won as a result. I don't know what the moaning I've seen about the decision is about, I had Diaz for the second and maybe first round, but other than that it was all Condit for me.

Likewise with Condit being criticised for being "evasive", did people expect him to back up to the cage, put his hands up and let Diaz tee off on him?

Entertaining fight, especially this:

Need to work my way through the rest of the card...

i had diaz three round up, he pushed the fight and condit was a joke running all fight and yet again making the ufc seem like a boring points boxing match.

I am with sherdog, how can you run an entire fight, not control the fight or the octagon, throw some shitty leg kicks and win?

First ufc my brothers watched after me showing them some good UFC cards and this was boring as fuck, they were like, werdum and big country was a good fight, that last one was stupid the other guy just ran off lol.

At least we still have nate.

grumbles and finds his pride elimination..

Oh of course i used the internet Django roll eyes it just would have been nice to watch it on TV for free!

Condit definitely won. Yes he was evasive, but he did land way more shots and more effective ones at that, hence Diaz stopped his shit-talking mid way through the fight cos he knew Condit was picking him off.

In terms of 'octagon control', I'd see the fact that Condit basically played exactly the game he wanted to suggest that, taking a step back, he was far more comofrtable than Diaz was, forcing Diaz to come forward and picking him off every time.

Nelson demonstrated his chin again, those knees from Werdum were fucking brutal. And Koshcheck was predictable.

Watching undercard now.

I would rather watch a real fight than a points game, I agree with BJ, making it a loss un less you finish a guy with a sub or strikes with no rounds just 20 minutes, maybe this is because I like the whole just scrap ethos, but everyone at the gym was totally pissed at this main event, natural born jogger seems to be a new meme haha.

However I don't like to make too much out of it because I don't wanna sound liek one of those fans that boos the clinch and fighters if they are onb the ground in a stalemate for longer than 20 seconds, douche amaericans with their usa chants btw, anyone notice that shit?

jesus fucking christ mate this was an argument that was had in the 90s - 'THERE SHOULD BE NO ROUNDS OR TIME LIMITS'
MMA is a sport, with rules and regulations, they aren't perfect, nor will they ever be. They are what they are, people can 'play the game' in the same way that it happens in football.

The fight was actually a decent fight with some nice striking and great combos from Condit. But who cares? After all your gym mates didn't like it.

Its just fucking boring, who wants to see a dude say hes going to war and then spin off the cage and run back to opponent for 25 fucking minutes.

I am not saying we should go all Royce and have the old UFC back but I certainly don't think people want to watch greg jackson point fights for the next few years with a boring GSP laying on people and the guy getting to fight him acting like he is playing tag and run.

whatever tough I will still be watching but I was expecting condit to go to war, could have been an awesome fight.

People complained when Arsenal won all their matches 1-0 under George Graham, they said the same about early-Mourinho Chelsea.

If someone really is that good, they should be able to beat their opponent anyway, regardless of how 'boring' they are. If Diaz was really fucking amazing, he should have beat Condit, regardless of Condit being evasive. Diaz played right into his hands though, chased bit, and got smacked quite a bit. His face says he was in a fight contrary to the 'point scoring' you seem to think it was.

Condit definitely deserved the decision but it made for a pretty boring fight. Can't see GSP having too much trouble with Condit unless his knee isn't fully better.

I really hope Nick reconsiders his decision to retire in the cold light of day.

Seems like the majority of MMA fighters who have offered an opinion gave it to Diaz:

I scored the fight exactly like the judges. Diaz won the first round, the rest was Condit. Maybe Diaz had the second. Thing is Diaz knows how MMA fights are scored. If he thinks he can win on octagon control he's pretty stupid. Condit clearly landed more punches. It's only the Diaz "hardmen" fanboys that think otherwise.

How the fuck would you give Condit the 5th when Diaz had his back for the last 90 second?

Anyway Diaz and his cornermen were dumb for not changing his approach once his usual back them into the corner and land shitloads of weak punches wasn't working.

I don't think Diaz was robbed but it would be great to see such a trainwreck of a human being as UFC champion.

The scoring is pretty vague and could really do with being clarified. I think it's pretty hard to change the Unified Rules though because the changes would have to be ratified by each US state athletic commission.

Anyway rules I'd change if it was up to me.

*End the ban on 12-6 elbows, not sure how these do more damage than 9-3 or any other direction of elbow. You could probably still ban what Muay Thai calls a jump elbow, which is where you jump up and come down with elbow vertically to the top of the opponents head.

*End or at least relax the ban on kicks and knees to the head of a grounded opponent. Wrestlers wouldn't be so keen to shoot takedowns if their opponent's sprawl was followed by knees to the head. I don't think it's entirely coincidence that US made MMA rules favour US fighters who mostly have wrestling backgrounds. Also buttflopping jiu-jitsu pussies would certainly think twice if they could get soccer kicked and stomped in the head.

*End the ban on chin to eye submissions cos how is that not the coolest sub ever?

*Extend the range of scoring thusly:
10-10 - Draw
10-9 Slight advantage
10-8 Clear advantage
10-7 Overwhelming advantage
10-6 How is the dude still conscious?
10-5 How is the dude still alive?

Well, I think that what Diaz did the last 90 seconds wasn't enough to win the round. Simple as that.

What I don't get is why Diaz didn't try to take him to the ground much earlier, but then again if DIaz really thought he was winning through taunts and walking then why would he change up his game.

Peter wrote:

Only reason I wanted to see him win, though I was partial to Condit just because "everyone" thought Diaz would get it.

Yeah, it's a huge problem that the scoring is so vague. MMA really needs its own system, not something inhereited from other one-dimensional fighting sporsts.

So Diaz SHOCK HORROR tests positive for weed. Why in the name of fuck do they still test for this?

What's the fucking problem. Weed clearly doesn't do anything for your performance. Except in the very roundabout way of allowing a guy who seemingly suffers from pretty severe anxiety to leave the house and go to the gym.
