VIAS' and Immigration

My best friend's familys' vias has run out and the home office has refused a renewal, is there any way he could stay if he applied for a student vias? Bare in mind he's 17.
Any ideas?

I've no idea, but if you forward me some details I can ask some people from No Borders who I should see tomorrow.
