A fucking cricket that my girlfriend accidentally let loose. It was originally intended to feed her leopard geckos. Now it's sitting under the fridge driving me nuts.

Lemon Squeeze Funk Collective -- Hemorrhoid Death

[peel]

I first heard the Lemon Squeeze Funk Collective perform back in 1973, when they were touring with the Gigantic Kingfishers. And I caught up with them a few years later at the Reading Festival, which was held in Sidcup that year due to a booking error, and witnessed the most remarkable spontaneous jamming session with the Mighty Anacondas, which went on for sixteen hours until Kieth Spanner, the lead singer of the Anacondas, died of an impacted colon brought on by a drug overdose. At Spanner's funeral the Funk Collective performed their legendary Laundry in the Morning which ended in a twenty-eight minute drum solo. The Funk Collective dropped out of sight after the bass guitarist, Richard Pencil, went on a drinking binge and opened a small antiques shop in Surrey, but reformed again in 1982 and released their best album to date, Someone's Car is Parked in my Garage -- the opening track, Lesbian Ham, reaching 132 in the Independent Slap-Funk Chart. But the band wouldn't last much longer, and they finally split up after releasing their final single, the spoken word heavy metal classic, Hemorrhoid Death. In May 1983 Pencil left the band and joined Burning Spunk and went on to record three more albums, before finally leaving them in June 1983 after falling out with the other band members over a difference of opinion as to which colour the band's tour bus should be painted. In the end, the mother of all ironies, the bus was painted a misty buff, the colour Pencil had lobbied for.

RPG shit I'm sorry that sucks.

I'm listening to Thom Yorke - the Eraser. Er like Radiohead but not as good, with Yorke's vocals a bit more prominent. Not great, basically. I think I'll listen to some Metric instead...

The Bubonic Shitheads -- Mind Vomit (Hydrochloric Enema, Part 2)

[peel]

Anarchist punk band the Zombie Motherfuckers, later renamed The Bubonic Shitheads, were famous for their ongoing feud with Fascists in Drag throughout the 70s. Kurt Spoon, the lead singer of the Fascists, believed that he was the reincarnation of Eva Braun, and the Fascists right-wing politics would later cause controversy when, in what would turn out to be their last performance, they executed over three-hundred gypsies on stage in a custom built gas chamber. The Shitheads were commissioned to record a new tone for the testcard, which was later discontinued after numerous complaints were received that it caused television sets to melt. Undeterred they they went on to have sixty consecutive number ones in Germany, and would dominate the charts there for the next twenty-three years. The Shitheads were famous for their theatrical performances and their on stage stunts -- the most famous of which involved lead singer Johnny Snotbag inserting a trombone into his rectum and squirting diarrhoea over the audience, who would vomit in adoration. It was a breathtaking sight to behold. In 1982 they released their seminal single Marmalade Vaginal Douche, the B-side of which featured Mind Vomit (Hydrochloric Enema, Part 2), the followup to Penile Secretions (Hydrochloric Enema, Part 1), released as their previous single.

Listen to Sinatra's Songs for Swinging Lovers -- one of the great albums of all time. Live at the Sands and Songs for Young Lovers are both pretty good too.

It's a fantastic album. And although recorded in 1955 the sound quality is still in the top 10 of all time. Listen to a vinyl pressing on a decent sound system, at a decent volume: it'll blow you away.

Nelson Riddle's arrangements are great of course, but Frank was at the top of his game, and his voice - with the life experience as well as the singing experience on show - was terrific.

Anyone who loves music should own this album.

Hi

I'm not going to be unemployed much longer, so I'm getting my fill of Channel U whilst I still can. Tuggawar? I don't think so. I tell you, you get some really small-time UK Hip Hop and Dance Hall in the afternoons.

Love

LR

It could be so much more if they dropped all the gangsta banality. It is quite fun watching those budget grime videos and being like "I get that train!". I actually saw a grime video being filmed once on the WAGN line. It was weird, the train was packed to fuck and there was just some guy miming into a camera surrounded by commuters.

Isn't there a Klashnekoff vid on there somewhere? He kicks ass. I also saw a "dope" (embarrassed) Lupe Fiasco video on there today.
