Much though I love you guys I get a kick out of being on the boards alone as I am now - not sure why - lone by name..I guess. Or maybe its because I just like to surprise you all with a nice thread. Like this one (following on from the raging success of the Prison Break one embarrassed - though at least Jef's Everyone Hates Chris was even less popular tongue wink ) So we all love our films and music so it makes sense to ask this one. What is your favourite film score at the moment - and maybe of all time also? My "all-timer" is prob. Morricone's "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" and my current the incredible Ry Cooder slide guitar at the beginning of one of my all time fave films "Paris Texas."

So whats yours?

Good choice, I'd go for Once Upon a Time in the West myself.

I thought that was a deliberate effort by other posters to be ironic sad

Jef's very own and tremendously popular thread!

Ooh that's tough. The music on Dead Man's Shoes is absiloutely beautiful. A film called Exils by Tony Gatlif has actually the most amazing music ever (and is probably one of my favourite films), and then the score the Time of the Gypsies by Emir Kusturica is also amazingly beautiful.

Hmmm I'm not so good at remembering entire scores... hmm well Requiem For A Dream's is pretty awesome; otherwise I can only think of bits of films with single tracks that have been really good - like Pixies at the end of Fight Club or the Buzzcocks cover in Shrek 2.

ennio morricone beats pretty much everyone when it comes to films scores. i think once upon a time in the west is his best, but i also love the bits with the watch in for a few dollars more, and i'm often whistling the whistling bit from duck you sucker... i think battle royale's filmscore is my favourite non-morricone one though, it's pretty perfect all the way through.

John - bits of scores are fine. I mean, I did the same with my Paris Texas choice. All good selections so far, peeps. smile

Top Gun has a good score.

and Judgement Night "score" has Biohazard, Therapy?, Faith No More, Helmet, Onyx and Cypress Hill on it. If you don't think that counts you're a snobby bastard wink

Yeah. Just mention film scores and that film instantly pops into my head. The only film score I went a bought the single of. The other two Dollar films were pretty good too. Excellent choice.

These days?? Walk The Line - but you already know I like that one.

Did you notice how in Shrek 2 everyone was related to the Labour Party? Once Shrek transformed into his handsome version he was the spit of Gordon Brown. Fairy Godmother was Madelson, behind the obviously homophobic repsentation (cough, splutter), Prince Charming was Blair etc.

Or have I been watching too many kids' animations recently?

martin

PS -daughter was amazed to discover that "I'm A Believer" was done better by the Monkees than on Shrek.
