ok, inspired (?) by the flaming of our american comrades, lets get this out of the open.

Which country has the shittyest anarchist movement and why?

And ICC, please resist issuing a statement how this kind of questions are nationalistic and based on bourgeoise ideology and how the most important thing is to defend working class conditions.

take it away comrades!

Of the places it exists and I know about it, I really would say the US.

Altho barely worse than the UK.

i've said it before and i'll say it again: South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands. closely followed by Fiji and maybe the Federated States of Micronesia.

although, i've heard the Micronesian Anarchist Federation got over his nasty tummy upset, so he is a fully-functional vanguard again now smile

lol, i would agree, but being a nationalist i will defend it against all accusations false or true grin

Actually finnish anarchist movement was doing really badly IMO until the emergence of new syndicalist union couple months ago who started their work with a bang when bunch of call centre workers decided to organise under it. Some organisers got fired, some direct action took place etc etc, promising start wink Dont know the latest on the issue.

There is a strong anti-civ/primmoe tendency in finland as well these days. Actually suprisingly strong...

UK has to come fairly high on the list. For a country with so many thousands of "anarchists" and anti-authoritarians the level of organised anarchist groups is really embarrassingly low. Getting better now though since pretty much all groups, AF, SolFed, CW and IWW are all saying that they are getting more members.

Actually, Fiji is a hotbed of class struggle compared to almost anywhere else in the S Pacific except Tahiti and maybe Kanaky.

Though sadly all these movements have been somewhat derailed by nationalism in the past 15 years sad

Shittiest anarchist movement by state has to be the Vatican's, followed by Monaco's, Dubai's and the Cayman Islands'.

There is a small Maltese anarchist movement, they seemed to be a mix of punk and AR, but did a fair bit of support for Mark Barnsley so I don't think they're in the running for this coveted title. wink

Especially as Malta is titchy

ok i fucked up, i should have said:

what is the country with the worst anarchist movement you have had the pleasure to be involved in, if only briefly

Hmm, a tad unfair on those of us who aren't migrant workers or anarcho tourists. (Does visiting people count?)

Otherwise the British anarchist movement is clearly the worst....

and the best confused

But they appropriate expensive beef and give it to the poor

Meat, theft and costumes, what more could you want from an anarchist group?

That redeemed them somewhat. But the thought of all these smelly punks just puts me right off. Even the Robin Hoods could have been sporting bumflaps and large clumps of filthy dreads underneath those costumes. I'd like a bit of class from an anarchist group really, what happened to the days of looking smart whilst engaging in revolutionary activity. Bowler hats best come back into fashion soon...

aye mate, i think you are on to a winner. The squatters movement is pretty impressive and the amount of these "squatted social centres", but as far as organised anarchists go, the dutch draw a blank.

Malta isn't that where the english middleclass goes to die?

Oh yeah and Denmark doesn't have the greatest of anarchist/liberterian movements - it's very much identity politics
