i am trying to get as direct as possible contact for ken loach. we would like to ask for permission to screen Land and Freedom here (some cinemas we coperate with ask for it).

I tried to get some "friendly" permission contacting his production company (never found direct email or phone) but it was always some shitty clerk who advised me to get in touch with some managers or distribution bosses or they simply told me that it is not possible if we don´t way pay for the rights to screen.

do you know someone who might help us in any way? we would like to do screenings around Slovakia and make it also a part of planned 85th anniversary IWA speech tour here. thanks a lot for any help!!!!

Haha, recently the infoshop in Austin got a "cease-and-desist" phone call and letter from a lawyer for screening Land and Freedom without permission/royalties. Oops.
Good luck.

Rogue - that's not necessarily Loach's doing. Sounds like MPAA. They've got people stationed in most every large city watching for things like piracy, unauthorized showings, etc.

Ken Loach may well not have the right to authorise screenings, depends what the deal he made for dictro entailed and how he got his funding.

Oh yes, I know that, it was the MPAA. But Saii makes a good point above.
