Will Jack still have a PlayStation after the revolution?
Help to settle an argument that's been rumbling away in South London SolFed for months.
Jack says yes, because otherwise it's not much of a fucking revolution, is it?
martinh says no, because PlayStations are for alienated twats, and there won't be any alienated twats after the revolution.*
N (a comrade from North London) says that Jack will be too shagged out from working in the fields all day to play on computers.
Who was right?
* I take it that this was a comment about the nature of libertarian communist society, not some thinly-veiled threat on Jack's life.
Ideally, I think Jack should have one, but be made to work in the fields for ages and then chatted to by his non-alienated brethren for so long he doesn't get a chance to play it.
after a couple of hundred years he might be able to have one, once the fundamental restructuring of society had bedded down a bit
Although luckily medical science will have advanced so quickly, due to having been set free from the shackles of capital, that we'll all live to be 500 anyway.
Why would Jack want a Playstation? It's overpriced and has no good games, he'd be better having an XBOX 360 with Gears of War!
No. He will have two playstations and a time share in a corvette. Not all alienation can be solved by the revolution, if anything the revolution will allow us the time to be alienated on qualitatively higher level.

I like the way this man thinks.

I don't fucking know, do I? I've only ever played Tetris.
Isn't it Jess' job to do these threads?
I think Jack should have a playstation after the revolution but that he should have to provide the electricity for it himself.
Jack pedalling away on an exercise bike trying to get the dynamo fast enough to keep the playstation going would be hilarious. More fun than any game I have ever played anyway

To the oldies, they're all playstation x-box thingys.
Obviously, I have a 360 and Gears of war. I'm not that much of a muppet.
I'm almost sad, these are now conversations I won't have anymore.

I win, paedos lose.
*creates record for Jack on database so he fails CRB check*
I don't see why he wouldnt have a playstation, is someone going to confiscate it? If they do he can have my spare one. The question is will there be new and better computer games.

There'll be plenty of new games. Just no food or medicine.

Thats your cue to tell me who it is...
Course Jack can have an Xbox or a playstation after the revolution. Martinh has just turned into a grumpy old man before his time, and if N thinks we'll all be spending most of our time working the fields he can fuck off. Just think of all the work that'll become obsolete (banking staff, human resources personnel, payroll, stock exchange, legal parasites...) after the revolution freeing up loadsa people for all sorts of productive work including developing consoles and games.
Haha Jack would have to play on linux games after the revolution
Martinh has just turned into a grumpy old man before his time
Pot, kettle....
Maybe Jack can work at the museum of how shit life was before the revolution?
I happen to think there'll be more important things for us to tackle as a society than gadgets to fill time,
Regards,
Martin
ANd as well, I don't think N meant that everyone would have to work in the fields. Just Jack..
I happen to think there'll be more important things for us to tackle as a society than gadgets to fill time
Yes, but in case you hadn't noticed, the gadgets are already here
And I bloody hope we'll have spare time to fill, otherwise, what's the fucking point? Call me crazy, but completely overturning the prevailing social order so we can sit around all day in meetings about why the crops won't grow and how long it'll be before we starve to death seems a little silly
i think that he will be too busy torturing stray anilmals with impunity
do none of you anarchists actually realise how much work would be involved in a total transformation of the existing social & economic order?
i don't want to get all lletsa'd up here, but you have to get a bit of a reality check if you're serious about what you'r hoping for
i always seem to get the impression that most of you think that the hard work will stop 'post revolution', rather than start
yeah but oisleep. i'll pull a sicky. and everyone else will be so happy that they won't notice the blsters/back ache/terrible boredom/etc.

Obviously there's going to be a certain amount of work, but I can't see any reason that it would be the insane level of toil and drudgery some of the reflexive miserablists on MATB suggest. The revolution is the transformation of the existing social & economic order (or rather it's negation and replacement, if you want to get into semantics).
Y'know I so saw that "Pot, kettle..." thing coming martinh, in fairness I did really set myself up for it. Though I'm a lot less grumpy lately, honest.
I did suspect N was referring specifically to Jack, is it cos he thinks Jacks posh and believes we should punish the posh by making them work the fields and depriving them of playstations? While it might be tempting to force royals and assorted (previously) rich fuckers to do demeaning and menial work there is a danger of creating a new under class...
Of course oisleep has spoilt the thread by stating what is so obvious to most people that we seldom mention it, what relevance that has to jack having a playstation is though I don't know.

i'd say N's right
