Considering how fucking good The Wire was it was virtually impossible to end it without a let down. But they managed it, killing off Omar was fucking brilliant (when I saw Cunard in the alley with the cat I did wonder if he might pop Omar) but the way they just threw it in and let it roll away was fucking brilliant.
Greggs is a fucking Judas.
Fucking Valchek as Commissioner smile
I hate Scott so much. No one has inspired me with so much hate in the show. That said there's a lot of love for Slim Charles for taking off the back of Cheese's head, that fucker needed to get got.
Snoop getting wiped out like that was pretty cool, I'd have expected her to be a bit smarter about it though.
Prez with a beard was good
Fucking Levy and Herc angry
And it was good to see Bubbles finally come out of it. If there's one person on there you have to love it's him. I would have liked to see Marlo get taken out, but the way he took the corner at the end was sweet.

I fucking love the attention to detail on that beautiful show, the way they brought back that girl who bought the 8 ball to be in Bubbles' meeting or the way it was the same newspapaer guy from season 2 or 3 I forget. And it was all done so well. I really do wonder if TV hasn't been permanently ruined by The Wire.

Jack, I need a good torrent for episodes 6, 7 and 10 of season 5 and a torrent for season 4 (mine is screeners) hook me up.

It is the best television programme ever.
Find a decent torrent and start from the beginning. Don't be greedy though, it's easy to spend a whole day watching it, you need to appreciate it. That said I've watched most of the episodes four times and they stand up.

That was the best episode yet. What a way to end.

For all the twats who said season 5 was weak - basically just fuck off, you're exposed. You never liked or got the Wire at all, you just pretended to because you were scared of looking like idiots in front of the big boys.

Just in shock now. Even after such a good end to such a good season of such a good show, never expected the last episode to be so amazing. I honestly believe that in 20 years tme, this show will be looked upon as THE great work of art of our time. War and Peace for the early 21st century.

As soon as I get my season 1 box set back, we're going to watch it again, and it will be just as good the second time.

I genuinely can't stop buzzing, it couldn't have been more perfect, I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight.

Jef - have you tried these ones?

mirror number 2 (the mininova ones) are what we always got, never had any problem.

For season 4 (think eztv has most of it) which version do you have? I had the review copy with the code in the top right (blurred out on half the episodes), don't have anything better than that. PM me your address, and I'll burn you a DVD of the ones we have and post you it - or if you're over here soonish I'll pass to you.

I got individual episodes of Season 4 off eztv. At least half are review copies with the shit sound and worst of all the final episode is missing the end of season montage.

I was so happy with the way they ended it. I was so impressed that they did end it rather than try and leave it open. They had mentioned that the logical subject for a sixth series would be changing demographics but that they didn't think that they could do the necessary research. I'm so glad that they just finished it.
McNulty's wake was good too.

Oh shit, yea, we've got the one with the end of season 4 missing (was fucking annoying!) but we got a working copy of the episode. It's more than just the montage missing, it cuts out at about an hour, and I think the episode is about 75 mins so there's quite a bit you lose.

We didn't get it off EZTV, downloaded it as a full set of season 4 off (I think) mininova, but it sounds like the same one. Altho, I don't remember the sound being particularly awful?

Oh and how could I have neglected to mention, how amazing was Michael as the new Omar? grin

I wasn't convinced with Michael for a second then the way he took out the guy's leg did it for me.
I'm actually a bit pleased about the fuckup with season four. It means there's more The Wire that I haven't seen !!!
Season 5 took a bit to get going but I think about episode three it really started to work. I am still not completely happy with Scott and Gus but on the whole it worked out pretty well. I remember loads of people bitching about season two being on the port at first. The Wire was so good the way it would throw away something another program would have made a central point. The way they expected you to keep up and to have paid attention. That's the other problem with tv rips, The recaps cheapen The Wire.

Have you got fx channel? Their adverts for The Wire are so stupid, you can't sell the best programme ever as if it's just a stupid bang bang cop show.

I wasn't even annoyed that poot survived, even though he was a cunt.

Bet you thought it was funny Snoop being all girly at the end.
The bit with Chris and Bey was good, another thing that another programme would have overegged and made shit that The Wire just did effortlessly.

I might just have to watch it again.

I actually think Scott and Gus really worked - it was delibrately stark and contrasted to other stuff in the show, and was an interesting inversion. Elsewhere it was always the ones at the top who were the shits and fucking over those below them to get a faked result, with the newsroom it was inverted. I mean it was a bit too stark on the good bad thing, but that was surely the point. Altho personally I liked season 5 from the start - it was slightly down from season 4 for the first few episodes, but I still reckon it was consistently better than 1 and 2.

Jesus, advertising the Wire as a cop show is so retarded, I can't even think how they'd do that, would it even come over as a good cop show??

Aagh, the whole thing was just amazing. As soon as I get season 1 back after Dublin bookfair, we're watching it again from the start.

Michael taking the legs out was just legendary. I think we probably woke our entire house up cheering at that and also when Cheese got shot.

I cheered when he killed cheese, I was ecstatically happy.
Gus was good and Scot was a cunt but they weren't stronly developed enough as characters, especially Scott, there were moments but we never got to know them as much as we should have (might have been better if they'd had 13 episodes) it was cool the way that it looked like Alma would be the focus and she practically disappeared.
