Hello peeps

I am all about this film!

It has been referenced - bizarrely! - in the thread in News on heart stem cells and there has been a few posts on there so i thought i would start a thread here to prevent continued derailment!! There are a couple of cool clip links there also..

So who has seen this?

For those who haven't it was made in 1974 and stars Sean Connery and is set in the future. There are these rich indolent peeps who just loll around eating grapes and having sex and stuff and are terminally bored because they are immortal. They shield themselves from the outside world where these nasty primmos known as the Brutals live. Then there is this bizarre giant stone head that floats around giving weird orders and edicts such as "Guns are good! The penis is evil"! And issuing guns and stuff. Funnily enough macho lothario Sean's character is not all about this philosophy(the anti-sex bit!! ) tongue and resolves to uncover the secret of the Zardoz head! Weird trippy film with some great outfits.. well worth seeing!!

Love

LW X

Why are 70s sci-fi films so pessimistic - Zardoz, omega man, planet of the apes, silent running - every one of them is bleak. Then Star Wars came along and good won over evil and everyone lived happily ever after.

Which proves once and for all that optimism is for fat, obsessive losers who wear stupid t-shirts wink

photoshop's at home, so any class war visual jokes are 6 hours away at least sad

though if someone wants to write some fan fiction? "14 months into the mars mission, class war's crew were beginning to regret barbecuing the ship's pilot as a "middle class bastard." Why hadn't they stuck to burning dodgy racially caricatured effigies? ..."
