Sorry, but is anyone reminded of the Life of Brian when all the cops rush that house?
600 Cops in one street - London?
There's a street in North London called Blackstock Rd., it's got a lot of turkish grocery shops, some takeaways, is quite near Finsbury Park Mosque. Although I've been 'round that area loads, I've not noticed any more crime than in the rest of North East London (although I did live and work just off 'Murder Mile' for a couple of years, so might be oblivious to stuff now) - most of it'll be a bit of cannabis dealing, stolen mobile phones - petty crime, handling stolen goods etc.
600 policemen in full riot gear stormed the street in broad daylight, raiding a load of shops and homes and searching/arresting people en-masse.
Also Ret, lol.
Ah, found it!
that may be the greatest concentration of cops per square foot i've ever seen

for SFA as well.
they didn't even do it like this when they did the sting of dealers on camden lock (itself a spurious op to clean it up for tourist industry and most of all, look dynamic).
They been on the sulphate these last weeks actually, they had a HUGE dawn raid thing on a crack dealing network in north london recently, seen bits and pieces in local papers too...
On an unrelated not, just catching the train from gospel oak today i was put through a metal detector at the station.... by British transport Police. Thats right, BTP jhad a metal detector. To catch fare dodgers we can assume
. WTF. They asked to search my bag and i said yes til i realised what i was saying - i said 'on what grounds mate?' and he just gave me back my bag. Meaning the police were searching anyone who didn't know they had no power to do so. And anyway, this is BTP they aren't even cops!
It's quite a chilling thought that the fuckers actually had 600+ full riot suits just hanging up waiting to be donned at an opportune moment!
There's over 4,000 riot-trained in the Met, which means there's around a 1,000 on the streets carrying riot gear in their vans 24/7, .

Not sure if that is good logic really.
But being trained as a riot cop surely doesnt mean they patrol as riot cops?
They don't wear the gear all the time, but they have it with them, and they often wear the overalls for other duties.
If there was a hint of riot they'd kit up, what else are you after to call them riot cops?
admin - derailment edited out of the last three posts
No, there are BTP CSOs as well, and there are also now Railway Enforcement Officers who only have the train-related powers.
BTP cops have the same powers as regular plod, plus they are 'agents of the railway', and Scottish plod powers when in Scotland - anyone else (e.g. Met for G8) has to be sworn specially.

As has been pointed out they so are, and the so-called "War on Terror" is giving the transport police/security forces the world over the right to be ludicrously demeaning towards travellers. In my case it's just the shoes, belt and lifting of the t-shirt to give 'em a quick flash at Stanstead and Lubeck (well, except for the time I was foolishly in possession of an absinthe spoon...
), but I pity this woman:
