Troops have taken control of Bolivia's four big airports.
'in an effort to avoid accidents and ensure passenger safety.'
Socialist president Evo morlaes said:
the protests have put passengers at risk and could cause some airports to lose their classification as international airports.

Want a bet that the same people who were decrying Bush's use of force to break the docks strike will somehow find excuses for this new poster boy of the Latin American left?
I think even the most gullible cheerleaders had already figured Morales was a crock....what I'm waiting for is when Chavez does something really bad (which he will at some point) and the reactions that we'll see from all the social-democrats masquerading as revolutionaries.
I can imagine Alan Woods saying something like: Well, crushing the heads of striking workers is an essential step towards Socialism....viva Hugo!

why, what had he done before this?

Despite the election of Evo Morales from the Movement for Socialism as President of bolivia, several strikes are in process and the persecution of the landless movement MST continues under the new regime.

About a year or two ago, Morales sold out a mass movement -- I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, but you may find this article by some communists in the America's intersting....

Basically, Morales is just a populist social-democrat....like Chavez.

Hehe Armchair I dunno about disseminating FPM propaganda (bunch of fucking nutcases) but I do agree with your sentiment.
Here are some other good links I found. I check narco and bolivia blog almost every week for stuff on Bolivia. Great sites.

I've never met them....I just remembered reading a half decent piece on Morales by them and thought it was relevant. Out of interest though, (and also because I am a nosy bastard!
), may I ask why you consider them a "bunch of fucking nutcases"?
Oh, thanks for the articles.
whoops mixed them up with progressive labor Party, those guys are real fucking whackos. FPM isn't that bad, just kinda full of vanguardists and Maoists. That and their members are cultish little fellows, sorta like the ICC. But otherwise not so bad.

Interesting. The strikers managed to get the government in control of the airport, but for all the wrong reasons.
Morales is only socialist in the way that French people are cheese-eating surrender monkeys.
