Bristol Wireless
Did anyone else see the thing about Bristol Wireless on the news tonight, it looks fucking cool. They're a community group providing free broadband via a Wi-Fi network, I think it's a really good idea. Here's their website:

Freedom did a front page on the issue in January, there's a huge project going on in Illinois being done by the Indymedia treasurer.
Anyone fancy doing a New Cross Wireless?? My (stolen) connection ain't that hot.
There was one in London, made up of anyone with a ifi router, with a big map of nodes. Cant remember its name. Actually there were a couple.
London is slowly going wifi now anyway, 3 boroughs have already one and the City is about to as well.
Oh and for people interested in using other peoples wifi networks, theres a thread on legality here:
There is in fact a wi-fi network that covers New Cross and Deptford (and few other bitds too) http://boundless.coop/ other stuff in London http://nodel.org/seednodes.php
Scary the comp geeks know less than me.

we're using the same one yeah? It goes off every now and then but usually i can reconnect within an hour, but yeah not very reliable. Hasn't bothered me so far but I know there'll come a time when I really need it and it won't work!

There's a similar scheme in Edinburgh called backnet.
