A short list of countries, scary that some have percentages as low as 8 though.

Yeah this follows the trend of problematic surveys in the area, with another short, closed-item short questionnaire.

Recent UK stuff like the Theos research (although problematic in itself in its phrasing) showed that the picture's anything but clear - it's worth having a look at the 'faith and darwin' and 'rescuing darwin' reports for both a picture of the UK landscape and the problems of these surveys, and also reveals some of the nuances to trespondents' answers.

Miller at al published a 32-country survey (of 'developed' countries) in 2006 in Science, and Hameed (2009, also in Science) published a brief summary of attitudes in Muslim countries.

8% is the lowest I've come across in any survey (though Hameed cited the same figure from another survey) - and the item in the British Council's is different from Miller et al's and most other academic surveys which find a 'human exceptionalist' point of view if often responsible for differences in response to particular item phrasings.
