Wyndford Primary School was one of several occupied during the Easter holidays against the Council's plans to close down 22 primary schools and nurseries throughout Glasgow, but predominantly in working class areas. Since that occupation the council voted to go ahead with their planned cuts and so Friday was supposed to be the last day at the condemned schools.

However the parents decided to take matters into their own hands and reoccupied the school at closing time. Since then they have prevented council vans leaving the gates with school equipment and furniture. The council cut the water off to them on Tuesday, so a call went out and litres and litres of water have been arriving daily from their supporters! To give the kids some fun and to show the council how intimidated they are by their medieval siege tactics, the occupiers have organised a water festival with paddling pools, water balloons and super soakers for Thursday.

Please support this audacious, courageous community and help keep them going in their fight against the Council. This is a working class community that the Council would dearly love to destroy in order to gentrify the area. The solidarity that came in during the Easter occupation really bouyed them up and helped them find the courage for this one. They were very touched at the messages of solidarity that came in from all over, and especially the financial donations, though I did have to explain what "Meanwhile At The Bar" was and why they'd donated £100. smile They're getting a very very good impression of Anarchists. grin
