I didn't mean anything bad by that mitch, it's just the only KRAS people I really know of are 2, one of whom posted here is jewish and frequently made jokes about it, and this one, who i believe also posted here. The word "jew" isn't really comparable to the N word, and it was just joking around a bit of a stereotype of russian radicals.

anyway i fail to see how claiming that all anarchists are jews is anyway disparaging towards jews, infact it's more a compliment if anything, it's also a parody of nazi zog conspiracies.

I wasn't sure whether to take that as an insult or a compliment. But they are stereotypes nonetheless. (Also a relative of Holocaust victims - for their politics and ethnicity)

yeah but we've all got past the 16 year old PC kid notion that stereotyping is inherently racist and not allowed in humour. yeah?

Of course it's a stereotype if it wasn't it wouldn't work as a joke, the joke is the stereotype afterall and not actual people.

Man, the IWA. I'm so glad I stayed in London this weekend, I think if I'd have gone to Manchester I would have quit the anarchoid scene for good. If you wanna keep me in Solfed, you should probably try and stop me keeping up to date with all this petty fucking sectarian bullshit.

The crap bits are (as happens) being massivly exagerrated, the good stuff easily overcomes it.

too true, you would have loved hanging out with all the folk from all over the world in the evenings. It is a shame the shit covers the good so easily, and the same reason why TV Soaps are popular, the same reason why the negative stuff attracts so much attention.

Having said that, it does piss me off so much that i also sometimes think why bother, but then i meet other SolFed comms and our local crew and i remember again why i got involved.

Yeah this is true. I think this is one of the most important things about international organisation, it is just really inspiring meeting people from all over the place. Especially ones from abroad, and it does really make you like anarchists again. It would even you, Alan.

I only get inspired by Hispanic anarchists. wink

And I dunno, all the pre-conference votes were so completely disheartening. Does the IWA have a serious problem with self-promoting bureaucrats or is that just my paranoia and distrust of any international that doesn't feature two football teams?

I don't want to wander too far off the topic here, and though I'm new to this board, I feel I should respond. First, humor does not always come across well over message boards, especially when one does not know the folks involved. I'm sure you're all fine mates. But keeping in mind this is a public board, I think you should be just a little more sensitive to how those viewing the boards perceive the folks on this list (which also applies to discussion of IWA business). There are good reasons some are sensitive to these terms. By the way, I believe "P.C." was a term invented by the right-wing to belittle those who have concerns for language and its effects on people.

I look forward to hearing more about the substantive issues addressed at the congress.

we don't need an international to meet people. we don't need an international to destroy the capitalist economy. What I mean by that is : learn from the mistke we did by letting bureaucracy crawling into our organisations. If we could manage an efficient network it would be a big step.

Also not wanting to derail the thread... but... syndicalist and pghwob have got a point. If this thread was in Libcommunity, then the 'in' joke might well have been taken with a pinch of salt. But this is in the News section, moreover we don't know who's reading this, whether or not they are familiar with the humour of some of the Libcom regulars, whether English is their first language even (remember, this thread concerns an international conference that is happening now). Reading through this thread, you could be forgiven for thinking it is a chit-chat, gossipy Libcommunity thread. Bit of revolutionary self-discipline comrades, let's not show ourselves up!

I'll second Serge - I guessed it was an 'in joke', knowing you lot - but I didn't know what the joke was - and it could easily look dodgy to strangers reading this thread. It's obviously easy to drift into forgetfulness that this is a public space.

sorry we'll make sure and pass and get an ECC stamp before expressing ourselves again.

If peeps who don't post on the boards take it the wrong way tough shit, if they have a problem or are confused they can ask.

You're an intelligent lad who comes out with some very interesting and often spot on stuff. But you do let yourself down sometimes. Please try and be a bit more amenable.

I'm not being a prick, i'm merely pointing out that if people don't get the joke then they are free to post about it (as was done), if they are just lurkers then it's their problem, you shouldn't eavesdrop on conversations and then take offence, I mean do you tailor all your real life conversations because an unknown "they" might misinterpret something?

Ok, so what happened at the Congress?

I hear that the new IWA Secretariat will be in Serbia. The FAU has not been expelled and the USI also remain. What else?

Looking forward to hearing constructive reportage.

Humorless mitch -:)

what's the FAU's actual status at the moment and what are it's preconditions?

Basically what does it need to do/not do in order not to be fucked out?

You aren't having a private conversation on here though. I'm not saying people should guard every word they come out with or something, but you do have to bear in mind that you're posting on a public bulletin board, not sitting in a mate's house where only people who know what you're talking about can hear.

fuck me can no one answer my simple question?

What's the FAU's current status and what are the conditions upon it remaining in the IWA?

As the SolFed comrades that attended the congress obviously decided not to anticipate the IWA secretariats oficial statement (which is understandable), here are two possible outcomes (keeping in mind the inicial post in this thread about the FAU soon beeing out). Maybe this makes it somewhat easier for someone to say "I can neither confirm nor deny it".

Alternative 1 (more likely)

As the congress could not expell the FAU at the congress because there has been no prior motion for that (although there has been such decision making in the past) that motion was brought in at the congress and has to be voted or ratified within the next few month in an international referendum with a predictable result.

Alternative 2 (far less likely)

It is given as an ultimatum until the next FAU congress, that they FAU has to eat humble pie (with a predictable result). Otherwise the new IWA secretariat has the mandate to start an international referendum with a predictable result.

I think she was born in Poland, lived in the US for a while, hence her accent, but is now in Russia

A jew, eh?

Aren't they all? (KRAS).

Comment
Wel,well well... wink
1) Not all of us are jews but we have alot of bustards. I am fucking one of that poisoned snakes!
2) Delegate of KRAS is not jew but she is irish. It's even worst you know...
3) She is irish but she spend alot of time in Russia. She lives todey in Poland but visits Russia sometimes. She is not ofisial member of KRAS but in reality she is one of us.

well you know those irish, they're not much better than the jews, they get everywhere, mind you atleast the irish reject cosmopolitanism and hold on to their ethnic identity even if they are sixth generations in the US, the jews are sneakier they infect the world with their communist internationalism.

BTW incase anyone is reading this and doesn't get the irony, this is a joke, a deliberate exagerration of stereotypes that take them into the faintly ridiculous, get it?
