The peoples of Oaxaca marked the first-year anniversary of the fierce state and federal police repression of the Oaxaca social movement on November 26. There was not a cop in sight.

Sounds like the movement's largely died down. They even released Flavio Sosa, who the mainstream media called the "ringleader". Focus is now on continued prisoner support (although the majority are now out) and the APPO's diminishing in relevance but claims it's over the ideological splits.

I'm actually off to the Oaxacan beach tonight and I think there's tentative discussion of us heading up to the Cuidad on the way back (as tourists not politicos). Some rather sketchy types I met went down for the above march expecting chaos and violence. I think they wound up disappointed.

how sad.

I've just rememebered to try and get back in touch with the comrades we supported recently over there, i'm sure for anarchists it will be as busy as ever. The guy in question worked in a very small community anyway i think.

have you had contact with the AMZ

Reread that, Alan, Flavio isn't out, his brother is.Oaxacalibre has this demand

Quote:

Typical of Leninists to claim a meeting wasn't happening and try to derail a march by announcing a seperate event. If they're abandoning APPO, good riddance i'd say.
