Nazis kill anarchist in Siberia
BBC NEWS report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6912006.stm
mentions antifa, though the report says that the assailants were NOT linked to any extremist youth group - what bollocks!
There is a direct link between police and neo-nazi gangs, they work hand in hand in attacking anarchists and anti-fascists, therefore the Russian state IS implicated in this murder as they are the protectorates of these scum. One example was the attacks on the gay parade and associate protests to see that the russian pigs allow these attacks to happen.
Though I aree that this is about international solidarity with antifascists and perhaps the international brigades memorial is a better site, more public and will send a message that anti-fascist militants are being killed now, as they were in 1936, for opposing fascism.

The official police story is starting to unravel a bit.
The first major media article i found was on AP
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070721/ap_on_re_eu/russia_demonstrator_killed_2
which quoted the cops as saying it was a "robbery".
Now Pravda cites a different police spokesman as saying it was a "personal argument"
http://english.pravda.ru/news/russia/23-07-2007/95127-russia_detainee-0
And finally, the only major media source I've found so far that actually bothered to talk to one of the campers

I'm afraid its gone a bit too far now. i take your pooint but i prefer the embassy anyway.
For the third time now: does anyone from libcom (ftony aside) think they can make it? The one's that live in london especially.
I'll be there, with a few others, 5-7pm or 6-8pm would seem sensible from past experience.
Police spokesman Valery Gribakin was quoted by the ITAR-Tass news agency as suggesting that theft had appeared to be a motive for the attack....
“Investigators are inclined to believe that the attack was motivated by hooliganism with the aim of stealing property,” he said.
Pricks. The Russian state is certainly a legitimate target in this - even if they didn't undertake the attack itself, they are fully involved in trying to gloss over the political aspect to this attack. And as raw said, the police and fascists have worked closely in the past (and I'm sure continue to do so).
I was warned recently by some old Soho Queen that in ten years time Putin will be regarded in the same light as Iran is now...
For the sake of imperialism, of course.

Sorry, I can't make Thursday
oh ok, i thought you were a US poster anyway!
I'd be up for going, i don't know how though, is there any other manchester folk up for coming along?
It just goes to show that nazis are indeed cowards.

No, but libcom has enabled me to establish cordial relations with paid union workers in the US
I'll let people from Social Ecology London know, hopefully some of us will be able to make it, especially given the camp was called for in part by an 'ecological libertarian association'.
yeah, let us knwo the time and i can tell london wobblies too. one of which is involved in antifa, so he can maybe get some of the antifa lot down. must be before weds lunchtime though, otherwise i'll be long gone till sunday.
callout thread now here:
http://libcom.org/forums/south-east-london/vigil-murdered-anarchist-thursday-7pm-russian-embassy
could a mod add that to the OP?
info anyway:
There will be a candle lit vigil in solidarity and in memory of Ilyan
This Thursday at 7PM
outside the Russian Embassy
13 kensington palace gardens
nearest tube notting hill gate: walk along Notting Hill Gate towards Queensway tube and it is the second road on your right.
looks like:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2007/07/376699.html
There are some articles and further information here, also an address to send money for medical bills and transporting Ilya's body home.
There are some more pictures but you might not want to see bloodstained clothing and injured people.
there's a very odd twist in this story. At least according to the corporate press, one of the attackers is the son of the woman who co-founded Baikal Ecological Wave.
