Oaxaca: Sección 22 march out of class and occupy priísta secondary school instate
Yesterday 70,000 Sección 22 members "suspended activities" to march on the city centre calling for the release of political prisoners, new union elections and the return of schools under the control of the rival Sección 59, created by the PRI state government in order to combat the Sección 22 radicals in the SNTE teachers' union (who led the Oaxaca revolt). They've also occupied a secondary school in the Istmus de Tehuantepec in the east of the state which was under the control of Sección 59 and priístas. Reports say that there's currently a guard of "500 teachers" outside the school.
I'll put this in News when I have the chance...I'm already doing a story about a round of uni strikes. Fuck 2008 started quickly here.
