The issue is safety, it's not easy to see how to resolve it. In this case I've not seen concrete demands, but they usually are based around increased staffing which I'm more in favour of if it's staff rather than security guards. CCTV is another option, but that's not always good for workers. And obviously we won't support them if they call for more police.
In France bus driverrs are often targetted as representatives of the state. Hard to know how to deal with that. Police escorts were suggested as was putting police on the buses.
