This morning cleaners at Senate House took unofficial strike action and won!
This was on the facebook event:
At least 100 people turned up to this, despite having only a day's notice! Balfour Beatty have now promised there will be no repercussions for participating workers AND payment tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who came along or sent messages of support. As well as the workers who organised the action themselves, there were workers and students from across the University of London, and supporters from Bloomsbury Fightback!, IWW, Solidarity Federation, Camden United Against the Cuts and the SWP. Max Watson from the UNISON NEC attended in a personal capacity, as did reps from Camden UNISON. Next step: London Living Wage for all workers in the University of London.
There's also a report on the SolFed website here.
This is the latest in a mini wave of wildcats in London, hopefully it'll continue to spread!
