Since Thursday April 10, 2008, 22:00, the FIAT factory of Pomigliano (NA) is blocked.
A workers committee, constituted independently from union membership, has organized the mobilisation.
Till Sunday workers’ pickets have granted a 99% adhesion to the strike.
Since Monday, April 14, workers decided to block only gates for goods, in a try to force the auto factory to a halt.
The dispute regards 316 workers, considered “inconvenient” by the company, which has decided to externalize them to a new logistic pole, in Nola, which everybody considers as an “antechamber” to dismissal.
But the future of all factory workers comes into the picture. All workers have no guarantee about their working future.
The blockade of trucks will continue to the bitter end, till the 316 workers will be re-absorbed inside the factory perimeter.
It is necessary that everybody supports and comes to bring solidarity to the workers who are picketing the business night and day.
To loose this battle, in the largest factory of south of Italy, would mean to condemn to misery and unemployment thousands of families.
To win it, would mean to give an important first response to progressive impoverishment, disorientation and precarity which all workers are put through nowadays.
