September 15 will be the trial of brothers Andrei and Sergei Movchan, Kiev libertarian syndicalists, active participants in the independent student union «Pryama Diya» («Direct Action») and activists of an social initiative «Save old Kiev». Over a year ago, they were detained after the demolition of a fence around the construction site, where contrary the mass protests of the nearby residents was deployed an illegal deforestation and an unagreed construction of the church complex, which will include, along with the actual church building, also a garage and other business buildings.
Now Andrei and Sergei charged with an disorderly conduct and an attempt «to oppose themselves to the society and to show contempt for the spiritual values of citizens». They face imprisonment for up to five years.
We urge our comrades throughout the world to express their protest against the repressive actions of the Ukrainian authorities and to demand an immediate termination to the prosecution of activists.
