He staged his disappearance and actually didn't die.

Hieronymous, I am so sorry for your loss, and that of Will's other friends, family and comrades. This must be a terrible shock.

Thank you for your offer of putting his texts in our library. We have only a couple of his articles at the moment: http://libcom.org/tags/will-barnes

Hieronymous,
I hope this comes over right, I genuinely found that self-introduction text of Will Barnes engaging, and I can imagine him as a decent comrade.
In solidarity,
Dan.

Heironymous,

Sorry for your loss and thanks for the personal and political background information.

I only came accross Will Barnes in his challenging debate with comrades in Internationalist Perspectives and others arising out of the Wisconsin struggle a while back (see: http://internationalist-perspective.org/IP/ip-discussions/unions-1.html) but I have clearly missed out on a lot more of his contributions so will look forward to more of these being posted to this site.

I had a couple of very brief communications with Will. That was enough to convince me that here was an extraordinary person, one whoseknowledge, commitment and integrity ran equally deep.

Wish I had known about him sooner. Wish I had known him longer.

Barnes faked his death in 2012. In 2018 he published an article in Insurgent Notes under the name 'Floris D'Aalst'. He then wrote a response to his 2018 article under the name 'Guillaume Destiche'.

Explains removal of RIP from original heading to this thread then. Found the referenced Insurgent Notes text a bit long winded and not sure how valuable it proved even with the short comments from others - so decided not to link it to the libcom threads on efforts to understand the Post Trump political scene in the USA.

So why did he do this?

To escape the "cruel polemicists". No idea what that means.
