movement for justice in el barrio
anyone know them? New York based.
About to do a UK tour.
yea, they're a large grassroots direct action style anti-gentrification/housing activist group in NYC of mostly (exclusively?) mexican immigrants. they are 'associated' with the zapatistas. a few nyc-nefac people work with them closely.
From our fall activity reportback:
These are some of the activists at the frontlines of a citywide battle for the block. In October, they came together in the heart of East Harlem to "share words of struggle, support and solidarity" at the first ever NYC Encuentro for Dignity and Against Gentrification. Since 2004, MJB has fought from the ground up "for social justice and for humanity" and against the displacement of their people from their neighborhood. They are writing a new chapter in a long history of resistance in El Barrio, historic home of low-income immigrant families (the average annual income of Mexican immigrants here is $10,000).

and definetly check them out.. i dunno if they have a perfectly worded position paper on 'reification and dialectical ass-trumpets from the sky' but they are worth checking out as a fighting class struggle org.
Indeed - AF are partially facilitating there UK tour so we shall see quite a bit of them.
