what happened there?

how serious is this? How much damage was done and (obviously don't be a liability) what groups are behind it? What exactly happened - a separate anarchist march joined up with a bigger anti-war march and atacked an army recrutiment centre?

Some info here:

ooh sexay punk vest, yummmm http://www.antiauthoritarian.net/NLN/photo-gallery/2007_sds_j27/images/000055.jpg

heh right on
http://www.antiauthoritarian.net/NLN/photo-gallery/2007_sds_j27/images/000058.jpg

free hugs grin

look i want to know about this alleged shield wall that was fronting the black block. Surely thats some pretty heavy shit to try and pull in the US - especially if it was actually successfully used to deter the police?

Considering http://dc.indymedia.org/usermedia/image/7/large/j27_026.jpg what is the attitude of SDS towards anarchism - and what is the building they are on the steps of? Is it functional?

Ive spoken to a few SDSers on revleft.com, and from the discussions that have gone on there it looks like most SDS chapters now have a very high if not majority anarchist friendly core of activists.

Having said that I dont think SDS is that big, mabey a few thousand folks across the country.

no, it's where the united states congress meets.
(no jokes about congress being a museum, that would be so PBS)

everything you want to know about it is here:

and

here:

There where several "snake marches" (I can explain what snake marches are if yall dont understand) through out Washington DC. There was the SDS snake march, a anti-authoritarian one and i've heard a rumor of a third. There of course was the larger liberal oriented peacefull march. The snake marches merged to form the "radical youth contingent" somewhere in the process a millitary reqruiting station was bashed up. Several police lines where forced back etc. there where shilds....plenty of em. R.Y.C. ended up storming the capitol building, nearly getting inside on several occasions.

Is it sad that an event as weak as this makes me, in the words of a friend, want to dust the ol boots off?

God how far we have fallen from the action heavy days of the early 00's.

There seems to be a large "anti authoritarian" population in our organization. However there are also very liberal green chapters and chapters dominated by marxist leninists. In fact a university in my state has a chapter dominated by leninist politics.

Thanks :)

what are those made out of, do you suppose? they look like oil drums cut in half, which might be decent.

i'm surprised at the uniformity of the ones shown in that video, though... the paint job and such, very similar on each one, looks rather professional (at least, from the angle i can see). i would've expected things to be a lot more mixed and varied - kudos to them for doing something so neato!

The DC pigs were told not to arrest anyone because they "didnt want to give the anarchists the confrontation they wanted." Someone described in an article about this, if the cops arrested them the anarchists would have won (because we got our "confrontation") but if they didnt arrest them they would take the steps (which they did). I love win win situations.

Er that chronology is fucked. So you do take advantage of their non-intervention and push to the steps; then they arrest you.
